best way to reach it is do an engine swap and begin from there. That 2200 is old technology and a piece of @!#$....reliable BUT a piece of @!#$

Turbo. No chance in hell of 200hp on an ohv on a budget. Even turbo'ing it and reaching that number will be hard to do on a budget if you're talking whp.

I have 2 of them that would walk all over your quad... I would not conder the engine to be a POS at all... It may be slow in stock form, but it was designed for economy. Your mods list claims you have the motor built, how money have you dumped into your engine? What is the true WHP on it?

I strongly doubt your 2200 will quote "walk all over me". I've yet to tune it so unless your boosted then maybe you might have a chance. Then imagine when I boost my twin cam.....boosted twin cam or a boosted single cam....who will win?

get it boosted then... I am in middle of rebuilding mine (stock bottom end finally gave out after 4 years/putting down 300whp(low boost) and I had plenty more power ) .. If you feel so confident boost it and we can run each other at next years bash if you would like...

If you were making 224 at 10psi before what do you consider low boost? Or what size turbo did you upgrade to?

I was making 287whp on 13 psi T3/T4 Stage III 60 trim with a .63 a/r .... Before I popped #3 ringlad I was pushing over 20psi for 3 months. I dropped the boost back down to 13 psi because I was going to attempt to get it to the Bash. I knew it was not going to last but I wanted to see how much the stock bottom end would take. The goal/idea was to strap it to the dyno in front of everybody at the Bash and show the non-believers what was up. The new turbo has a much quicker spool up time and will support more power also..

the 2200 is better then the regular LN2 because the 2200 has external fuel injection and is easier to work on.... once you rip off all that gay plastic and replace it with a CAI straight from the TB. My 2200 just died on me and I'm doing an Eco swap soon, so if I where you I would save all that money you're thinking of wasting into your 2200 and put it towords an Eco swap. The full swap is going to cost me only $1000 in parts. Get some hookups, make some friends, and a few years down the line make the swap.
Or if you're stubborn like I was before I blew mine up, I have some parts for sale soon if you're interested. depends on where you live though cuz I don't want to deal with shipping.
You're best bet which would be the cheapest thing you could do to realistically get more power is to run a 50 shot of N20, get some colder spark plugs, catback, header, intake. Live with that until you can do an Eco swap. Full modded exhaust (4-1 header, freeflow cat, etc.), intake, MSD coil packs, and 8mm wires only got me maybe 6hp over 115... at the crank. It's not worth it unless you're dumb and dedicated. Been there, done that, blew it up without even being boosted or tuned.

There is plenty of power to juice out of a 2200, especially boosted, or with spray.

If Ryan is making 287 whp on 13 psi on a stock bottom end......

One of these days mine will be strapped to the rollers too. Granted our projects arent "small budget builds", but our HP goals are about double yours in the end.

Gerkn: You don't seem to have that much to you build, and since it's about 8yrs old, have you considered that the failure is just a factory chain gone bad? You know, guys... The one thing sure to fail around 100,000mi?

Another engine build was in the process.. I have said on here MANY times that I wanted to see how far I could push the stock bottom end of a 2200. My tune was PERFECT and I think others here can probably attest to that. I pushed the limits of it because I wanted to. There is not one other person on this site that has came close to what I have on a stock bottom end 2200 and made it last for under boost for 5+ years with constant beating on it... You get me, you get me.. I don't think it will happen though.. I know what it will take on your motor to get around what I am building. I know both the motors inside and out. What turbo do you plan on using and how much boost just out of curiosity??

I'd just ingore DOHC. Guys been talking @!#$ since he joined the site and usually doesn't have much good to say other than show off his build and cock off. I'd also say Adler's old set-up (which I currently own) was a testament to the OHV. Had HPT been around at his time, I think we could have seen much bigger numbers out of it.

^yeah your right....I just hate the 2200 and what!...sorry but you wont get that out of me regardless of the numbers you show me.

As for my turbo build...im keeping it on the low for now until I get everything together....then I'll post the pics!

smcavalier has a 2.2 built motor runnign 10 lbs now no idea on the HP but hes in the 13s so hes over 200hp for sure cause if the GM supercharger get s 2.4 around 200 and it hits 14s.

DOHC_tuner i just got a kick out of this comment "That 2200 is old technology and a piece of @!#$....reliable BUT a piece of @!#$" it may be a POS but until the eco came along it was the best engine the 3rd gens had very seldomly did they blow up the 2.4 is more of a POS then the 2200 unless the 2.4 is build properly
