This is open to any and all that want to input. I currently have in my budget, about 250 every two weeks for car mods. I have the basics, cia, header, exhaust, coilover, short shifter on the way, new wheels being planned for about 2 months from now (will purchase two at a time). What else could i do to my car? I dont wanna go full build, and it all has to be streetable and emissions legal of course. Would perfer to be able to do it myself or with the help of buddies....OPINIONS!!!!!!
save your money for like 2 yeast and get boost
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE, i have already died once and im still here so lets just leave it on the track

HA!
Mounts man... you need mounts. Upper, lower and tranny.
you want a tranny!!!! WTF dude this is about my car...not ur personal life!!! HA I'm joking of course...whats next after mounts
no one else???? I thought for sure peopel would JUMP on this
port and polish, and a good tune.. outside of that, save for boost

All show, coming soon ---> GO
hwo long will the fire be outta commision for a port and polish? what about cams or t/b or stuff like that
id say mounts those were the first things i did and i love em! stock mounts blow i will never go back
I agree with the mounts. I currently have the upper and lower mount on the engine and love them. There are vibrations in the cabin at times but the increased push is amazing! I have an auto tranny mount on its way from TTR and I can't wait to get it installed. You can barely feel the 4t40e shift without the shift plus turned on so I hope this will help out!
If you wanna go with some small bolt ons for power I'd say an under driven crank, a larger tb would be ok I guess. If you could I'd save to maybe get a patriot stage 2 head?
Anyone agree with Ryan about the head?
Get the patriot head bare and get ferrera valve train. Or TTR. Their valvetrain isnt the greatest. Can take much lift. I think the max is .400....i think. I would say get the mounts, then the cams, then tune or build a custom turbo setup.
"You can only feed them semen for so long before their legs fall off."
lets get some more info on these heads....i wasnt really thinking that way, but if i could save up say twopay periods or maybe 3 or 4 cams and head might be doable
Start with the mounts, I recommend the TTR mounts, then go on from there. Here's a link to the Patriot Performance Ecotec Heads. You can get them one of the ways above or pick-up a spare and port it yourself. There are many options as far as the valve train is concerned. AllEcotec .com is a good source for parts, as well as Turbo Tech Racing (TTR) (Aaron has the best mounts).
Tuning with HP Tuners is another big help, see the Tuning Forum.

As you have heard from everyone so far mounts, mounts are one of the most inexpensive part that are totally worth it. TB, underdrive pulley (i have one for a 2.4 for sale). TB spacer might help out some too... suspension good for handling and help out with traction.

TB spacer....makes a good paper weight. No gain, we do not have a carb.

spacers are garbage. they cna be used for nitrous or alky injection tap

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
OK well right now, the head idea NO GOOD too much to save for. cams on the other hand....i might do. stage one vs. stage 2 wahts the diff in power anyone know?

save up for the head. most of your power is made from that anyway

evofire, save for the head IMO, also i have a set of LZM triflows forsale, too small for my appication, however they would work great in a mildly built setup such as yours!
watch for flying sparks!!!

well im interested in your old wheels whenever you get your new ones, how much?
to ship prolly way too much...where are you at. i would like to keep em local
I'd save up for the head too like i said earlier. Once you have mounts, save for the head or throw in some air flow mods. I just got a 62mm throttle body and i'm gonna be getting a 2.4 swap in intake manifold for the 2.2 ecotec. I hear the intake manifold is a great idea. It added 13 hp to a cobalt that only had some minor mods so who knows what it'll do to a cavalier with a head, mounts, complete intake redone and a complete exhaust system header back.

You seem to be in the same boat as me for the money issues. 250 every 2 weeks or so. They're a lot of mods out that that are in our range that can actually make a difference. For example:
Mounts
Underdriven pulley
HO Manifold
The stretch for the head.. and then i'd definitely get hp tuners. It'll do wonders for a nice flowing engine.. i only wish i knew how to use it.
-- Motor Mounts & Trans Mount --
-- 4-1 Header & Catback Exhaust --
-- 62mm TB & B&M Shiftplus --
hp tuners FIRST.
you can run on hptuners and make some extra power.
but if you get the head first, you'll be WAITING on the Hptuners to make your car run right again, if at all
