OK, like i've been saying in my earlier posts I installed my Pacesetter header a couple days ago. Went through a bunch of crap (leaks, parts, etc...), but it's still making a sound. When you push the gas it makes a whistling sound. Has anyone experienced this with their pacesetter headers??? ecotec by the way....
"You can only feed them semen for so long before their legs fall off."
You put an o2 sensor in it right! LOL
yup yup! I had a performance shop install it. I dont have a welder.

I think it might just be the difference is noises form having a cast (stock manifold) to having a tubular header now...
sounds like a vacuum leak, or leak at the gasket....if you had it professionally installed, i would take it back and have them check it.
did you put a turbo on the car and forget about it? lol but ya just take it back if you got it installed and have them look at it.
I would check the gasket to make sure its not leaking, it might be a vacuum leak, as if exhaust is leaking its not usually a whisteling sound.
I know on my car, again, 2200, the glasspack makes a whisteling sound, which it didnt before I had my header installed. It sounds like theres a leak, but ive had my hands everywhere on the exhaust, and felt no moving air (bends, welds, joints, everywhere). Its comming from the glasspack and I dont know why, its a perforated one, without the "fish scales" or "bumps" inside it. -- just a thought.
Hope you get it fixed!
Hows it pull compared to the manifold?
i have the same whistle sound, i'm almost positive that it's a vacuum leak.
I've taken it to the shop 3 times in the past two days, and to the Pacesetter factory twice today. The guy at pacesetter was no help whatsoever. Didnt suggest anything. Im gonna drive it for the weekend and see what happens. If it's still doing it im going to request a new header. I highly doubt a new header would make the sound that it is making. Im going to check the header bolts tonight or tomorrow though.
If it's still doing it tomorrow ill let ya guys know. If there's anyone in Phoenix, AZ that can help, that would be great.

Oh, and what is a vacuum leak?? Retarded i know, but im still learning all the terminology. I've heard it many times in my house (car family), but never been explained to me

dude im in queen creek....go to goodyear all the time...wanna meet up...ill help u out....
Goodyear is south valley right??? By avondale and such?
"You can only feed them semen for so long before their legs fall off."
Alright, cool. Well, if it's still doing this by tomorrow then we should definitely meet up. I wanna hear how a real ecotec should sound.

did they put a flex pipe on it? what size is the piping?
i had some retards put a flex pipe on my car that was a smaller diameter than the pipe upstream which made a whistling sound. also bad welds could be the culprit. just because the shop charges money to weld , doesnt mean they are good at it.
Your engine sucks air into it (vacuum), if something for exapmle, gets unplugged from your intake manifold or throttle body, this will allow that vacuum to leak. It usually causes a whislting sound, and may afect performance depending on where it is located.
Yeah, they put flex pipe on it. I wanna say it was 2" flex pipe, but they also made the inlet and outlet bigger on the bending machine.

I used to have an OBX header on my 2.4 & they put a flex pipe on it right after the downpipe...
It whistled like crazy until I had it removed...
More than likely, this is whats causing your problem...
thats a good point...i knew not of this flex pipe....maybe have it removed then try again....
try putting the stock intake back on it
loopers isnt the best shop in town to deal with or have things done
either turn the radio up , or get a s/c and let it whine lmao
lol we used to call them loopies....
What would you guys from AZ recommend for a good shop??
"You can only feed them semen for so long before their legs fall off."
that part of a bigger problem , there isnt alot i trust to do work for me , them saying they wouldnt do it with out adding a flex joint should been a flag on the job
i know chris did his own , between azjbo and dt , there is enough help do it yourself
headers will let you hear noises and sounds youve never heard before , leaks usually tick or make a pff pffff kinda sound , whislte noises usually come from the intake side , because of the suction created
its possible the exaust changed enough sound in a way your hearing that , which is why i said to try the stock intake
erics gotta good point....if u have it u might aswell try it....and if u dont have it make a junk yard run or ask around
