Hhmmm, should i even bother??

should i try to bother with puttin money into the 2.2l OHV motor in my 96 sunfire , or should i just go with my original plan to sell it for ~$2,500 and get myself a 91 Supra wit a 7M-GTE inside it??

Either way, id like something fast, and if anyone can tell me something about the max horsepower i may be able to recieve from the OHV motor, then it may convince me to not sell the car. Id be going full-out with the engine and turbo build to see what kind of max hp i can get. (forged, port polish, boosting, tuning, valve job, etc. etc etc etc the list goes on...)

To start, i think i only want around 300 or so...

I say get a supra if you are lookin for big HP numbers.....plus those 2.2l OHV motors are garbage!

the 2.2's are not GARBAGE per say... but they arent the BEST engine to be modding in our platform. of course they can be modded the hell out of and achieve decent numbers as can basically any engine...

the question you need to ask yourself is 'do i want to dump this kind of money into a cavalier, period' and if you do... then fine, do what YOU think is best.

the argument over if the 2.2 OHV engine is worth modding will rage on for years to come, the simple fact is YES it can be worth it if you are willing to to go far enough.

any engine can turn out to be a beast...but with the LN2 you are starting at the VERY VERY bottom so you would have a lot of work to do. Just go with the supra....I had a friend with a old 89 (i think) supra and it looked @!#$n clean.

hm...i think id be willing to do it, only b/cuz then i could lmao at pplz expressions when they get beat by an automatic SUNFIRE on the track.... Besides, i tihnk the reason my car isnt wut id like it to be is cuz i havent put any money in the motor, cept for an intake and solid motor mount (total = $100.00 worth of mods on my engine). It would be a similar case with any other car, it cant be fast unless i pour $$$$ into it, so i might as well keep wut ive got and make it fast.. Plus, my car is not even 100,000 miles yet, so its still somewhat fresh.

I think wut i need to do is take a ride with someone with a turbo j-body runnin ~2 or 300hp and see how it feels...cuz i rode in a Subbie with ~220whp and it launched so hard/fast it took my breath away....!

If I had another crack at a cheap 7mgte supra in good shape, I'd take it in a heartbeat and never look back. I had a shot at one for $700 once....
