They can work, but their are issues to tackle. THe biggest one being the P/S pump.

... run the 2.3 P\S? its on the 95 and working fine...

i used a 2.3 pump (1995 2.3, same as 2.4's) with no real issues.

I been researching this for awhile and I am having problems finding info. I am not running power steering at all. So what are going to be the issues of swapping? I don't have a set of these as of yet so any info I can get now will speed the process up once I get these.

Well, as generous an offer as that is, I'll pass...........

I have access to machine shop and engineering departments and we developed a nice setup for modifying 2.3 cams for TC engines, and I thought I'd do a run of ten or so and offer them for cheap, but perhaps I came to the wrong place.....

Thanks anyway

I SAW WHAT U POSTED, and I dont care to cut up 10 or 15 cams for a 75 cent part. I am well aware of what GMSPO does and does not offer in this regard ...thanks.

I commend you for modifying yours, but I am also going to do a nice cam reluctor addition so perhaps you can school me on how to cut that off an old cam with a cutting wheel.. better yet lets just let it drop as I dont wish to have a flaming contest with u and I can see it spiraling in that direction.

My posts were not intended solely for your response, I saw your response and appreciate it, but there are other members here who may actually have the information I am looking for

actually you take a pad of steal, and weld it to it. but the "easer" way is to use HPT to get rid of the CPS, and let it run in batch fire mode, as earlier Quad's ran. or use the Saturn cam sinc generator.... i would just run batch fire though.

not trying to be a dick, but what you speak of has been done for 4-6 years now.

i do have a question, how are you getting around the different lifter sizes?

Cant you read Chris???????????????

He is only doing the cams.

I love when people just want a PN from a dealer. Good luck getting it. Most dealers wont give it to you. Your only source for the hex drive is probably going to be from a junk cam just as Chris stated. But im sure with your 15 years of dealer experience you knew that already. I can also tell you that being ASE master plus L1 doesnt really mean dick to most out there.

You are probably the 4th or 5th person I have seen try to pull off the run of "2.3 cams for a 2.4 cheap" in the past few years and I have yet to see one actualy happen.

To the OP:

Yes you can use them as long as you have the lifter bores opened up to accept the 35mm lifters for the 2.3. I run a 2.3 exhaust housing on my engine so I only had to have the intake side opened up.

Gee thanks for your lovely response.........

if you could read you would see I know they are not available from spo, but obviously u cant......

i would imagine cam manufacturers cut up old cams for theirs, so ur probably right there is no vender out there making it

personally i could care less what you think about my experience u dumb fuk, i dont know why i even bothered posting here .... just because u cant do something doesnt mean i cant

Just because it isnt avaiable from SPO doesnt mean it doesnt exist. Only means GM doesnt offer it. Maybe you should change your manpon and ask your machine shop if they can get some. Just a suggestion. Im guessing that cam manufactures dont have to cut up an old one since it is part of the cam to begin with. I know that my stock cams didnt have any insert installed in them. My HO and .430/222 cams do however have a insert made from an old 2.4 cam in them.

I work in the facility where we are doing the work and we havent located any, hence the reason i asked here. I am aware the manufacturers dont resuse old ones, that was sarcasm, i know full well theres a vendor out there, just havent located it yet.

Re: 2.3 cams

In all honesty you probably wont find a vendor offering them. the market is to small.

Re: 2.3 cams

specifically for this application u may be right, but i have seen similar inserts for other applications, just not the correct size.... so i'll look a bit more....

hate this turned into a flame fest, wasnt my intention
