Hope this is where to ask

Hey yall, been a while since I been on here, I just got back from playin in the giant sandbox. Made it back safe thank God, but have a couple things that need done to my car before it will pas emissions testing. I did a full exhaust, header and all new pipe before I left, and now my comp is throwing codes for of course the cat converter, and also the front sensor bank is throwing a circuit fault code. Any suggestions yall have on how I can get this solved I appreciate it much. Thank yall again, this forum has been good reading in the past when I have had issues or am searching for ideas to start something new.

check the wires on the o2 sensor, or you might have damaged it when changing the exhaust

I'll be changin the front bank out, wondering if anyone knows about a plug with a longer pigtail. The bung location on my header requires longer wire than the stock exhaust manifold location. Also, I have read about a trick or something to do to the rear o2 sensor to tell the computer that I still have a stock cat converter on there. Thanx again for any help

I have my replacement pre-cat plug, a bosch universal, so hopefully the extra wire will help with the reach. Now here is my biggie question: I have the 18mm anti-foulers for the post-cat o2 sensor, do I need to do the same to the pre-cat sensor and back it out of the stream or should it be good installed staright into the header as it is? Thanks again for any help

i think with those 02 simulators or anti foulers or whatever you call them wont do you any good when passing emissions testing. then again i could be wrong. your sensor just migtht bad. i have a full exhaust system, header, high flow cat, and pipe and never had an code thrown due to it

PS
welcome back

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!

Thanks for the welcome back. I had browsed around after I installed the full exhaust, and I think for the pre-cat sensor it was just bad wiring when I reinstalled it, I had to add some length to it to make it reach the new location on the header. That particular sensor is throwing a circuit fault code. And with the post-cat sensor I have read about backing it out using the foulers on quite a few threads on the forum and it seems to be the help that works for most people on here. I figured I'd give it a shot before I go buy a new post-cat sensor, if I can fix it for 5$ vs 60$ on a new sensor, worth a shot.

Yeah I've read about a lot of people having success with the anti-foulers too. I'd say for the $5 it's worth drilling them out and trying them.

Welcome Back! Guessing your in the Air Force? And this is the first time i'm hearing of the term "anti foulers". I'm guessing they work along the same line as the O2 sims? Any clarifications? Thanks!

works nothing like an o2 sim. they are just pretty much an extension supposed to move ur spark plug out of the combustion chamber, but u get the pack of 2 and drill one so the o2 sensor will thread in then put all that into the undrilled one, it pulls ur o2 sensor out of the exhaust and slows down the air passing it. supposedly that helps not set the 2nd o2 code.

Ohhhh, thanks for clearing that up, gman! Never heard of moving the spark plug out of the combustion chamber either. I figured you would want the spark plug to deliver the spark as far into the combustion chamber as possible, within reason. But back on topic, i'm gonna have to do a little more research on these things!

as far as these anti-foulers and sims go......wouldnt it just be easier to get a catalytic converter thats capable of catalyzing any excess than all the extra drilling and installing????

Also what I was thinking, Event. Either that or get a tune. Just do some other mods like the secret cams to justify the price and more of a reason for the tuning! Just my opinion!

Hey USMC, yeah, I'm in the AF. Hey yall, wanted to let ya know that this fix worked like a charm, as soon as the front one was replaced and I did the anti-foulers on the rear that CEL turned off right away. No more codes bein thrown either. Simple easy solution. Thanx yall for the help
