so i installed a bomz intake from ebay last nite and it fit pretty good. seems to be a decent piece for the price. i took it for a test drive after and immediately noticed a little more snap and way more top end, top gear power. cool. the other thing i noticed was a decrease in the amount of engine drag when i close the throttle. is this normal because of the less restrictive piping or did i somehow not get the install right? WM
it just means the engine is breathing better. it's normal.
It just mean your brain think it got faster. An intake is not enough for you to really feel it.

believe me i can tell the diff. i've been driving this car for six years and know every shimmy and shake in it. i could even tell the diff when i jus pulled the lower half of the factory intake that hides in the fender and routed three inch piping into the bottom of the factory airbox. not to mention it was 23 degrees out last nite when i tried it. the car runs great when its that cold out. even keeps the overall engine temp down. which leads me to another question. when i plow through the gears shifting at about 4500-4750 each time, i notice the engine will pick up 8-10 degrees on the temp gauge pretty fast. does this sound like a leaking head gasket or a radiator problem or is my 140k mile cav jus gettin sick of me beatin on it?
nah if anything the air going in should be cooler
sounds like you have an unrelated cooling issue

When I put an intake on my car it lead to jme beating it all the more because I loved the sound.

a wha? you do realize, tuning for our cars doesnt come cheap. as in hptuners for $650, or a complete stand alone unit for roughly the same price...
