DENSO IRIDIUM PLUGS FOR ECOTEC, TOO LONG?
Sunday, January 13, 2008 1:30 PM
Hey,

I've read enough posts about spark plugs on here but I still wanted to try these plugs. I've used NGK TR-55 for a long time and have been happy. However, when i bought the plugs, part # 5338, PTIV16 or something the denso spark plugs were longer than my NGK TR-55's. I didn't want the piston to smack the plug in the cylinder. According to Autozone, that is the plug for my ecotec! Denso's site is screwed up, for me to find out for sure. Does anyone know if the ecotec's plugs are really short or can these longer denso's still fit?

Thanks

The Denso's will work they are the same size as the stock plugs.I use them in my 04 2.2 ecotec with turbo. The tr55 are to short they are almost a half inch shorter than the stock plugs!

TR55s are not the proper plugs for the engine, the densos are not too long, your old ones were too short, you will be lucky if you didnt damage the bottom threads in your head by running too short a plug

I'm running the IX EXTREME NGKs right now. I think they are the same size as the TR55.... When the mechanic saw the DENSOS' he thought they were long I guess only because my TR55's were short. But when I got the IX EXTREME's they were the same size as the TR55's making him think that was the correct length. What is the length of the stock ECOTEC plug? Same size as DENSO?
Thanks
