hey guys, is it possible to swap cavalier's cylinder heads like hybrids or b series engines?if so, what possible head from can i put with the 2.2L 97 cavy???
i would like to know this to
Actually, the only head you might be able to interchange with is the '98+ LN2's (2.2L). Of course to do that you'll need to swap all the manifolds and stuff that attaches to it. And then use the latter cam that is optimized for the heads characteristics. Not to mention how you'll need to change the connectors on the injector wiring to work with the completely different injectors. Hmmm... On second thought, maybe you'd be better off sticking with the head you've got. Especially since it's charicteristics are very much like a big-block Chevy head, which itself is a very good design.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
It is possible with alot of work for little or no gain. You would have to change the intake, the exhaust and a fair amount of the colling system to get the later heads to work and still then compression ratio is going to be too high for pump gas. You can use any '94-'97 LN2 head on you motor.

98+ head on 97- short block = uber-low compression ratio
97- head on 98+ block = uber-high compression
Bottom line, if you're going to swap heads, swap pistons as well.
fortune cookie say: better a delay than a disaster
Shoot, if he's gonna go that far he might as well order some pistons from Wiesco. Put a lil' extra squeeze on the mixture while it's in the hole (Knowadda mean?).

thanks guys, am planning on the pistons too but can't find here about the piston size for the stock, am not planning to oversize.maybe you guys can help??
3.50", that's all you need know. And again: Weisco.
