Rods of Different Weight

I bought a set of Eagle rods off someone that had one that spun a bearing.

So I went to an engine shop and they said they could resurface this rod, but it wouldn't last long in its current state. I had them order a brand new rod from Eagle, but come to find out, it's the new style, with 3/8" ARP rod bolts. And all of the ones I have are the old style, 5/16" ARP rod bolts.

Went back to the engine shop once I realized this. Guy called Eagle and they told him they no longer make the 5/16" bolt rods anymore, and could not make one for me. So I'm stuck with the larger bolt rod. He (and Eagle) did say that the weights shouldn't be too different, so it wouldn't matter. However, if necessary, weight can be removed from the larger rod (the guy told me he had it done to his small block chevy, which revs to 9800 and holds up no problem)

5/16" Eagle rod (3) at 530 grams
3/8" Eagle rod (1) at 550 grams

Think it's fine like that, or should I have the 3/8" rod modified?

A properly balanced motor should be +/- 1 or less for the reciprocating assembly or the rotating assembly. 20 grams is too far out of balance.

Yeah they'll sell you one, same thing with Wiseco and their pistons, and most other rod/piston company.
