i was thinking of a sho swap and some one suggested putting the sho motor in a ford festiva well befor i could respond the other thread was deleted by quicklilcav who knows all

does any one have a suggestion on a motor swap other than a gm 3200 or 3400

i was wanting to do something a lil different ive driven/owned alot of vehicles that have had the plymouth 3.0 v6 both turbo and non
these engines seem to preform well if i were to do this swap the vehicle would not be used for on road driving

Ps: when do i get the award.

Smarter than you will ever realize, Jimmy. And to clarify (And save me from my fustration) the SHO V-6 was swapped into a Festiva once in limited numbers (In back!) by an aftermarket builder. Jay Leno even has one of the 200 built. It was called the SHOgun Festiva. And as for Jimmy's Mopar Turbo 3.0L V-6 experience, I think he's lauding about the Mitsubishi 3.0L V-6. There was once a kit car company that built a rebody for the '87-up LeBaron to make it look like a 'Benz S-class (I didn't thnk it was cool, either) that also offered a turbo kit for the same if it had the Bitsu 3.0L V-6, but the factory never turbo'd the engine. It had enough problems with coolant leaks to drive you nuts (Re: Boom!). Again, Jimmy's talking outta his ass and showing proudly his "F" in puncuation. And capitalization.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".

Like I said: Ma Mopar never built a turbo bitsu 3.0L V-6. Most certainly not in or for the Shadow/Duster platform. It may have had the bulge in the hood like the Trenton built OHC turbo 4-cyl's, but it did not, did not have a turbo. Anyone who really knows anything about cars knows that, And you obviously know about as much about cars as you do typing w/ proper accentuation. Again: You will never realize... Jimmy.

3.4 DOCH, 225 HP stock, burn a PROM, and get around 300 (crank) N\A. rev to 7500.

and its not a ford.

I have always believed in keeping engines and cars the same manufacture. Unless of course you are putting a LSx in another car (ie. Mustang, 300ZX, 240, RX-7, ec.).

Personaly I have heard more bad than good about the SHO engines. That information came from a guy who had to work on them on a daily basis.

That only depends on the year of sho moter from what I hear. From what I understand the early v6 sho that wnet in the taurus was yamaha design and the v8 were a ford design. I could be wrong though I was not much of a ford guy.

I was really into the old omni, daytona, lebaron shadow/duster ect. And I know for a fact that the mitsu 3.0l V6 was never turbo from the factory although they were fairly quick in those cars if the car came with a 5 spd and the engine ran well. The hood bump was only on the turbo or v6 models.

Both motors were designed by Yamaha. The SHO v8 is THE BEST v8 I have ever heard in person. Hard to explain, but at 7k it sounded sechs. As for this thread, I feel like my poor sho is disgraced just by having this guy talk about it..... My sho had heart man, heart.

Not technically correct. Yes it's a Yamaha, but if you look into the stories everyone seems to talk about how the engine had over 300hp in stock form,. but Ford got ahold of it and de-tuned it. Kinda like what GM did with the Isuzu transmissions in the j-bodies.

But I have to agree with everyone talking up the GM engines in this thread. I even have a friend who's a big hardcore SHO fan. We agree with certain things about it. 1) It's a high maintenance motor, and every day it gets older and older, so the parts become harder to get. Without the 60k service the engine will start to go downhill pretty bad. Which is the other thing we agree on. Most people that owned them didn't have the 60k done on it. So, while you can find engines and entire cars its not really worth your time and effort to buy one or the engine unless you're 110% sure that it's had the proper service intervals done it it.

Personally, this O.P. can swap a 3.0 SHO motor into his Cav. I promise to burn him down with the 3400.
Just for a note that's 3 less cams, and 12 less valves.
I mean, by time he figures out how to put that in there and actually gets it in and running (give a couple years for that) I'll certainly have more WHP as well.
