So i have an 89 sunbird 2.0L turbo, i found a place that sells custom forged pistons and forged rods for it, and was wondering how far over i could bore this motor and it still be safe. Im raising boost to about 18PSI and adding maybe a 100-150 shot nitrous system as well. also, how much of a power increase should i expect from boring it over? thanks for all help in advance.

I had a 93 2.0L N/A Sunbird for awhile..... it's a good motor but I'de be afraid to attempt runing a 100-150 shot on 18 PSI regardless of the motor.
To be honest... boring out an engine doesn't make a big of a difference than you might think unless your talking about larger CI V8's......
This isn't going to be a daily driver is it?
It might work OK if you do everything 100% correct and your using it as a drag car....
But if you don't build up the motor strong enough (you'll prob need a better crank running that combo too)... and you beat on it every day..... kabooms are going to happen before long if not emediatley.
(assuming your seriouse)
Do you know of anywhere that sells cranks for this motor? Im going to have the stock one turned 10/10, shot peened and knife edged if it would help. I think it should be ok.. i just wasent sure how far to go over.. i was wanting to go a full MM, but thought maybe that would be too big? This is going to be a daily driver. if it helps, heres a list of mods, as far as i can see that may effect this.
- Block deburred
- "oil squirters" installed
- Block hot tanked, bored full MM over (?)
- crank deburred
- rods deburred
- pistons deburred, tops polished, skirts coated, CR set at 8:1
- turbo running 18 PSI
- 100-150 shot of nitrous
- high flow oil pump
- high performance piston rings
- ARP rod bolts
- clivette 77 main and rod bearings
Anything else you might need to know for strenth of the motor? thanks
