Cam/Crank Relations...Cam Timing Question
Thursday, November 29, 2007 10:10 PM
Does anybody know where to find the valve opening times for any of the Quad 4 intake and exhaust camshafts in relation to the crank (not duration)? Preferable HO though. Or are they an even spread across TDC as far as the overlap? If so, I would just need to know the overlap. Thanks.

I can give you the ATDC and BTDC with the .430" 224* cams that I have.

I'll take what I can get Gilles, especially considering I might end up going with HG2's if I decide I want to stay NA.

side note: Did you ever fix that timing problem or whatever you had with the GTZ?

It got WAY better when I saw the timming was off one tooth. It start perfectly and run #1 now. The compression is weird but it runs fine. Not I need to go with an NVG cause the 3.61 gear is not good with those cams.

Weird how? Using a standard compression gauge, I was getting varying readings across each cylinder. I took it to my neighbor who used a gauge that reads compression on a running engine and will data log the event. Turned out the opening and closing times and the compression were nearly identical across all 4 cylinders.

But you still haven't given me the original information I requested, lol.

My cam cards are at home. I'll have them tonight.

When the timing was off by one tooth, I had 285 psi on all 4. After putting the timing on the right spot, I had 240-230-210-210. Last week, I had 240-240-220-240. So I guess a bit more of break in and it should be fine.

Cam card

That is not mine but it's the same thing. The duration on my cams is 270, not 269 but it doesn't mather much.
