I'm building up the head on my 2.4L and have some questions regarding the HO cams. I plan on using the HO exhaust cam and the HO intake cam. I will be using the 2.4L cam towers, but bored 2mm over to accommodate the larger 2.3L lifters. I'll also have the HO intake cam modified for the hex drive and the magnetic pickup. Now come the questions
1. Will there be any clearance issues with the cams if I use the 2.4L towers? Will the covers fit fine?
2. Why do most people use the HO exhaust cam, and then modify a LO intake cam? Why not modify a HO intake cam?
3. What is the lift and duration of the HO intake and exhaust cams? I can't seem to find any clear cut info on this.
I'm sure there will be more questions later. Thanks!

I used a 2.3 exhaust housing and had my intake housing opened up for the lifters. The 2.4 exhaust housing will probably work but why spend extra money when you can go to a junkyard and get one that is already correct?
Th LO intake cam is used because you dont have to modify the cam to make it work.
HO cams are .410 lift and 212 duration for both cams.
go with a 2.3 exhaust tower that way you don't need to pay for the machining on the 2.4 tower for the 2mm over. its quit spendy.
Ho 410 dur 212 like said before
hopefully ill be up next weekend to check out the progress
You don NEED the CPS.
it can run like a ld2\lg0, in batch fire. just mod your tune for it.

^^^^ So where is the car now?
FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
so stock ld9 towers can fit HO cams inside them ? I thought the cams themselves were physically to big for the 2.4 towers ? (i know the hex needs to be machined out for PS.) THIS would save me a lot of hassle.

Well you have to get the towers machined so they can accept the 35mm lifters (stockers are 33mm). And thats not cheap...
Why cant the 33mm lifters work with the HO cams ?

The lift is too big and the cams wont spin in the tower. It hits the lifter bores.
HO cams lobes are wider that the lobes on the 2.4 if you would try to run them with 2.4 lifter the HO lobes would hit the side on the holes for the lifters. if that makes sense.
so the best way to run HO cams on a 2.4 is with 2.3 cam carrier housings and lifters..this would require 2.3 springs/retainers as well correct?
^^ no on the springs/retainers
I ran 2.4 stuff just fine with HO cams. 2.3 exhaust housing and modified 2.4 intake housing.
would the springs not be a benefit?
Sorry clarification. They are not required. Also you can run the 2.3 springs with the 2.4 retainers. They do hold. I would of course recomend getting the 2.3 stuff.
IIRC skillz was running the stock 2.4 springs with the HO cams, but it IS a good idea to have the right springs in there just for insurance purposes i believe.
