2.4 Dual Exhaust on 2.2 OHV
Friday, November 02, 2007 4:41 AM
My buddy has a Sunfire GT that he's parting out. He replaced the stock muffler(s) a long time ago and went with 2 "tuned" fart cans. My question is, can I take his exhaust, and put on my 97 sunfire OHV? Trimming the bumper will not be necessary because I'll be taking his GT bumper off his hands as well.

Well, the exhausts from the cat back are identical between all 3rd gens as far as I know, so in theory, yes, you could do that. Personally, I'd beg you not to put twin exhaust on a 4 cylinder, because its just plain useless, but if you really want to go ahead. There's a reason why they call it a "Y-pipe". "Y" would you want it on your car? LOLZ... but seriously, it can be done, if thats your taste.

you kidding me? i'd love to see tripple exhaust on a smart car. .....................obviously that was sarcasm. But about the duals not looking right on a 4, not completely true. On some cars yeah it looks like absolute shyte. But heres 1 very convincing reason to go dual click me good.

IMO, If youre doing the stock looking exhaust, stock setup, then why not? Itll work, and it doesnt look bad or ricey at all. (maybe to me it doesnt, because it IS factory).

Go for it

The cars gonna have a 3400 between april and october of next year, and I'll be going wit the stock 3400 exhaust manifolds, RK Sport Cat-back, 18-24 inch resonator, and a High flow cat.

Personally I like the look of the duals on a J-body. Its about symmetry, it makes the back of the car look balanced. No fart cannons though. Im going to run two dynomax muffs with some reasonable 2.5" tips so it doesnt look gaudy,.
