2.2 OHV ?
Wednesday, September 26, 2007 12:51 PM
I'm needing the blueprint specs for a 2.2 ohv block. Mainly the deck height and housing bore specs for the mains. I was told some of the specs in the 2.0 GM build were incorrect. I searched but was unable to find thread. Any info or links are appreciated as I'm a newbie. Also any rod and piston combos for a longer rod setup, I'm interested in. I circle track and run in a narrow band at 8000 plus with a lot of throttle time, so a long rod setup would help. Thanks again, tbd.

As far as my '96 block, everything I've measured (deck height, bearing journals) matches the build guide.

this will help you out to learn about your engine
http://www.jbodysource.org/wiki/MultiGenEngine2point2History

here are part sources (although it says second gen... the sources apply to the motor from 1991 - 2002)
http://www.jbodysource.org/wiki/SecondGenP2Engine2point2PartSources

however the parts list is by no means complete...

i was told once when i was rebuilding mine to run

Walbro Fuel pump
Mulling high flow oil pump
Micropolish the crank and cam (in my case swap to 94 or newer cam since its a roller cam, mine being a 93 did not have a roller cam)
Clevite 77 berrings
Eagle Rods
Wiseco Pistons (20 overbore... but no more than 50)
total seal rings
P & P head
and swap over to Magnum tipped roller rockers 1.6 - http://www.jbodysource.org/wiki/MultiGenEngineRollerRockers (1997 and older engines)

Thanks slowolej and Extreme Delusions, I have read those threads. I still need specs for deck height, housing bore mins and max, compression height of the piston from pin to crown, and rod length. Thanks for your reply. tbd.

For deck height, you have to measure the block you're building. The specs in the OHV guide are listed as "nominal" for a reason... the actual values can vary.

The thread "Peer Pressure and the OHV" has values and specs I've measured or found by looking up various parts. If what you need isn't in there, post here agin and I'll see if I have it when I get home.
