does anyone know how to remove the valves, springs and retainers?
I got a rental tool from AZ but its not even close to being what I need.
( most likely for an older style motor with lots of room.)
Not to sound like an ass, but do you have the head off?
I have used old style (it was from the 60's) removers on my 2.4L without any problems. Also the screw type work well.
yeah its a spare head I'm tearing down. I think the one that looks like a big C clamp might work. the one I have is like a long screw with long fingered jaws at one end.
I used the screw type on my 2.4L, and the "heavy" guys at the dealer I used to work at used that style on just about everything. I have also used the c-clamp style. They both worked just fine.
