hello i have a 96 cav z24 and i will like to know which is the best oil pump that i could use if im looking to boost my car .. with 10 lbs ..
questions are ... could i use the same oem fuel pump that comes with the car?

ive heard that people uses the 2.3 sunbirds oil pump .. if thats true where can get it

Your stock pump is fine for low boost, but if you are rebuilding the motor and want to change it anyway, use one out of a 2.3.

To my knowledge, I don't believe the sunbird ever came with any 2.3L motor (only the 2.0 turbo or the 2.2). The 2.3L oil pump people refer to is off of a 94-earlier quad 4 (2.3L). The 95' quad 4 is also a 2.3L, but its oil pump is the same as your 2.4L's.

Vehicles with a quad 4 that use the direct gear driven oil pump include

Achieva
Berreta
Calais
Grand Am

I'm sure there are others, but those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.


If you want THE BEST possible oil pump...talk to Aaron^^^^^^^^ (the guy who posted right above me )

yea i wanted to get the 2.3 one also so when i rebuild mine but a stock 2.3 pump is like $120
