Um, hypothetically If i were wanting to do a motor swap, what else am i lacking from this ummm.... Required list to make this a snap?

* Ecotec engine with all accessories, wiring harness, and ECU
* Ecotec transmission (whether auto or 5 speed) (k)
* CV shafts
* Power Steering rack w/ all hardlines.
* Ecotec radiator*
* Ecotec upper motor mount*
* Ecotec upper radiator hose
* Ecotec exhaust manifold and cat assembly
* Ecotec fuel return line
* Ecotec lower radiator hose*
* Ecotec throttle cable

Yes i have found the old post on PJ's how to... but from what i read thats in regards to the 00+.... I have a 99 with a metal gas tank and canister in rear.

Do i need things like the gauge cluster, PCM?

Yeah, you need the body harness, cluster, bcm... I think you can make it work with the 99- tank, but I think you need to use a 00+ fuel level sending unit.

You will need all wiring from inside the car (front to back). Also ther eis more than 1 post on how to do this on a pre 99.

Mother @!#$!!.... Thats what i thought might be, really didn't want to have to have it be that route. I have a local guy who has an 03 who rolled itself with 44K miles on the motor and tranny. Wants $400.... He won't give me the whole car, damn it all! Local pick n pull won't give me a whole car either, so looks like tomorrow i am going to be spending the whole day tearing out wiring harness for the inside of the car. That about blows.....

Ah well, got nothing better to do.

If you want the airbags to work, then you need a 2000+ airbag module too.

If you want the ABS to work, you need the ABS module (attached to the master cylinder with two flex lines, right next to it) too. The 95-99 one won't "talk Class 2" with the 2000+ pcm. Brake lines will have to be re-bent, might want to grab those while you're at it as the 00+ have external proportioning valves next to the rear axle that the pre-2000's don't.

You'll have to wing it when it comes to the lighting. Lots of wires move around. Lots of little things... it's not fun. Basically strip the car down to sheet metal and start over.

We have use pre 00 airbags on a 04 wiring harness. When the car was wrecked they went off.
As for taking the wiring out, it really is not hard at all. The brake lines are not a big deal to bend either. Keep in mind that what ever car you take the wiring from what it has that you have or don't have (example: ABS, power windows etc...). If the donor does not have ABS you won't have ABS. Not all 03+ have ABS, more seem to not have it, because it became a option again and not standard. Also you do not need to swap the sterring rack (unless you are just wanting that extra half a turn more.

Ok, I got the guy to give me the whole car. Its an 03 that was rolled over and a 4 door with power locks. ( mines not so i might convert it over) I'm getting engine, tranny, all wireing harness, ( he took the air bags since he needed them) , and the car pretty much from the subframe back with everything i want/need... $1,165 delivered to our shop. Engine and tranny only have 44K miles.

Yeah I just left my old brake setup in the car, since my donor did NOT have ABS. Everything works fine and to be honest I can't tell any difference with having no abs now. And taking the wiring is not all that bad, just strip the interior of everything and disconnect the engine harnes and work your way back. Oh yeah and I got my donor car for just about half of what you did Cody...

Yea yea... well I am blowing all my money i have saved up for paint and said @!#$ it all... I have been looking for a donor car all over and NY is a bastard place to snag one up with our laws. You have to be a dealer to go to the insurance auctions to get em. Well i left a $500 deposit on the car, looks like a nice wreck, motor looks like its been from NY ( lol) but i got in the car and it only has 40,XXX miles on it. Less than he thought. This car doesn't have ABS either, which honestly i didn't want anymore and looks like its going to be a snap. I am going to start striping my car tomorrow, i get the car delivered on Monday of next week. Then just got to pull the motor and what not...

He took a few things off the car as well. Are the headlight harness the same 00-05? This is one thing he needed still along with radiator and a/c condenser. I never use A/c as it is so i said i didn't care nor the compressor. I am going to delete it.
