Peacesetter Exhst SYS - NEED INPUT!!**
Thursday, August 16, 2007 8:44 AM
Hello all,

I was wondering if you can give me any opinion on the PEACESETTER products?

The Exhaust system: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=PSM%2D88%2D1479&FROM=MG

The Header: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=PSM%2D70%2D1276&FROM=MG

These items would be installed in a 2.2L GM engine.

Thanks.

I dont mind pacesetter parts many of my friends have them. But i suggest the vibrant catback exhaust system for the Jbodys. I love the sound of them. I have the Vibrant on my ecotec cavalier as well as my buddy jon has one on his Z24. Sounds great. We both got ours at never enough auto accessories. check this exhaust out there. www.neverenoughauto.com

Why the heck would you spend 3 times as much for a Z-Spec brand header, when all they do is re bandage the Pacesetter one?!?!?! It is a Pacesetter one just marked up huge in price, yet you are stating Pacesetter sucks?

Also the RK Sport cat back sucks really bad, worse than any other exhaust i have seen. 99.9% i bet will state this about the RK Sports exhaust system.

Pacesetter Armor coat header is a great piece. Their mandrel bent cat-back is very well done (piping) but their muffler is way to restrictive in it's design. I got a hi-flo cat welded to the down pipe of the 4/1 header and added a resonator to their system, other than that I went with a Dynomax ultra-flo muffler.

I got the Pacesetter cat-back for cheap and I liked the mandrel bent aspect of the pipe.

Cat-back: 200$
Resonator: 40$
Muffler: 90$

A full system with 50$ labor for 380$ + 10$ for a can of high temp flat black to coat the whole system. Sounds great and performs really well. It's actually quiet !

I have The obx 4-1 with 2.5 SS pipe with cat and flo-pro muffler and it sounds really good.

It probably added a few HP but I probably lost some TQ

Mando before you spend any money, I would try to find someone who has dynoed their car and can prove any kind of power gain. I've never owned anything Pacesetter, but their prices are very low and it makes me nervous about the quality.

I can't point to any specific dynos (although I know people have had them done with their cars N/A) but the Pacesetter header has been proven to show a bit of a power gain. Bolt-ons aren't goint to give you anything huge, but I believe the header adds something like 7-8 whp or so. No header for these cars is really going to do much better (regardless of what the manufacturer says).

As far as the Pacesetter catback, I've never had one, but MANY people have had problems with them rusting apart and essentially just falling off the car in pieces. Plus many have said they sound like sh!t...that of course is a matter of opinion. It seems that if you live in an area where you see any crappy weather, the Pacesetter catback will probably not hold up well at all. However the headers seems to do just fine as far as durability.
