So me and a buddy did the secret cam swap last weekend, everything seems to be ok except when the car idles, it constantly misses and feels like it could stall. My lights also flicker and sometimes my low oil light comes on. My CEL was on for multiple cylinder misfires but it turned off. I put new plugs, boots, and coil packs and am running out of ideas and money. Could the timing is off? Just wondering what some of you guys think.
Can you get video of the car running?
FU Tuning
unfortunatly i dont have a camcorder but i will see if I can get ahold of one
hmmm. the battery seems to be ok but I will check that over and look at the alternator connection too. Shifted, strange how we have the same last name and are in the same state. What town do you live in?
well i pulled the positve terminal off the battery with the car running but nothing happened. so the alternator isn't the problem?
^^nope... Do you hear any clicking when blipping the throttle? Could be a cracked coil housing.
i didn't here any clicking at all by the housing or alternator but it is kind of hard to tell because there is a lot of lifter noise
Take some plug wires and hook them up to the coil housing and plugs... then test it. Just a thought. Good luck.
I bet your timing is off. I had this problem when i chaged my water pump and i threw off the timing by a tooth i beleave. But it ran just how u are talking about. So i would look it to that.
this might sound like a dumb question but what is the best way to find where the timing is off? becuase it could be off on the crankshaft, intake or exhaust cam right?
Im not sure on the size of the bolts but when u rent a harmonic damper pulley puller it comes with come bolts and those are the ones that should go in the top of the cam gears to line them up to let u know its at TDC. If the bolt doesnt go in then your timing is off and another way is on the cam gear also theres a little line t TDC that needs to match up with little dot made on the motor as well to let u know if your timing is right.
Whew...glad i got mine right the first time!!! Hope you get it all figured out!
well looks like I will be taking everything apart again. thanks for the help!
