Stock ecotec from a 2003-2005 J Body runs ranged from mid 15's to high 15's, by just doing the filter, TB, and a shift kit wont help your times that much, you can take things outta your car to lessen weight, but then you will have a stripped interior, but if all you looking for is times, then i would say if you removed some weight you can run low 15's or high 14's... depends on how much weight you reduce...

He's got an auto...you think it's really that likely that he's going to get into the 14s with just the filter, TB and shift kit? For that matter I doubt that he'll be seeing low 15s but maybe I'm wrong. My guess would be probably higher than that...15.7-15.8 when it's all said and done, unless he totally strips the interior. Gonna need more - at least full exhaust and an actual aftermarket intake, plus some good tires and a tune (if not quite a bit more), I'd say, to get 14s with an auto...

Thats why i said just the filter, TB, and a shift kit WONT HELP YOUR TIMES THAT MUCH, and it DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH WEIGHT YOU REDUCE... you MIGHT be able to run low 15's... read plz

It also depends on where he lives. But a larger tb isnt always a good thing, it may help but if you go too big you may get too much air. generally a larger tb is used on cars with forced induction. But letting your engine breath better wouldnt be a bad idea either. a full intake and exhaust helps our cars a lot because our stock stuff is so restrictive. bt if you do decide on an exhaust i would recommend you keep a cat, our engines also love back pressure.

a larger TB wold probaly hurt you more than help. a bigger TB is more suited for high power NA engines or boost. now if you plan on boost, great then get the bigger TB and wait until the boost comes.

yeah i do plan on boosting it way down the road so i should just get the larger tb? and when i took my car to the track my best was a 16.80 with just the k/n filter, but i do have a sub that adds about 150-200lbs so i guess one i sell it i should run around low 16s. after this should i bother with the exhaust or just do it after i turbo it, because i was to have my interals all upgraded and almost everything just rebuilt.

cutting weight does make a difference, but lets be realistic, cutting more than a few tenths of a second off your ET 1/4 mile is just not realistic....You need alot more...

no need to sell the sub box. just take it out when racing

and you could get the new tb but i wouldnt actually install it until you are boosted. and i just take my subs out when i race, is just a few wires.

as a GENERAL APROXAMATION: around 100 LBS cuts 1/10 out of your 1/4 mile. if your driving a big rig 100 lbs might add 0.0001 seconds and if your in top fuel it might add a full second. its a curving ratio
a TB thats to big can cause hesatation when you step on it and can decrease vacuum. I cant tell you specifics, im still afraid of fuel injection lol. i would open up the exhuast side first. and an intake would complement a TB nicely.

practicing stepping on the throttle pedal just the right amount will give you better gains. and for the only cost of a tank of gas and a few tickets worked for me
