alright well idk whether i should go turbo or natural? If i went natural i'd be looking to get cams, patriot head, some connection rods, and maybe a crankshaft down the road. So what do you guys think, Hahn Stage 2 turbo kit, or natural aspiration? If i went natural it'd be more of a sleeper car, but would turbo be better off money wise, and performance ? I need to save up for either idea, turbo would be a longer wait without modification since natural i could save buy save buy .. cant save and buy half a turbo kit & then the rest later, lol.
What modifications do you have, and which ones do you think was the best upgrade performance wise? Also, if you have turbo what else did you upgrade along with the turbo? Is there anything i should upgrade with a turbo kit that doesnt already come with the hahn stage 2 turbo, like is there anything i'll need to get so the car can handle turbo?

That's easy,
If you have time, support to help you with the build, preferably a doner car, money for potential repairs go turbo all the way.
If you just wanna mess around with your car to say you've done stuff to it, have it sound not too bad, no loner car, go N/A

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
What kind of power are you looking to put out? A decent turbo system can cost you as low as $2500, a great turbo system like Hahn is going to cost you upwards of $3500 plus getting it tuned on a dno at $180 an hour. I'm going an interesting route of going NA. The money i'm saving from not boosting the car is going into weight reduction. If you can get the weight down it going to be a lot quicker than these cars that are weighing 3000 LBS.
Yeah i think i might stick to NA as well, how do you get the weight down ? I'm thinking turbo will overdo it for me anyways. I also read that Hahn dont have auto turbo kits, so any idea where i could be looking to get auto turbo for 2.2 eco. I dont really have a set goal, just mod till it goes the way i want it to go. Turbo is already starting to seem like more of a project. Any idea how much horse you can get out of a 2.2 eco going NA. And could i get some ideas on things to mod, im definitely going comp cams stage 1 grind, probably late next month. It's a bit hard to have a set goal in mind, theres not a dyno close by, and theres no track to be racing on testing the cars times. So far i have the exhaust, maybe header(mechanic couldn't get bolts lose, trying again tuesday or thursday with new mechanic) lower motor mount, upper mount on the way, and thats all. Also give me ideas on weight reduction if you could. Thanks.

Well Im getting weight down by ideas i got off the forum, and also a lot of custom fabrication. I'm having carbon door panels made for the front and rear doors, a VIS carbon hood and trunk and thin light weight aviation carpet. I bought some spare doors for my next project, im going to be removing the outer skin and having carbon fiber skins fabricated. Its exspensive but worth it for a killer NA se-up. You have a good start for an NA engine. I would use Ferrea valvetrain, and get comp cams stage to NA grind, about 20HP with supporting mods. For my NA set-up im going to use a DC header, AEM cold air intake, custom tianium exhuast, LS1 throttle body, sheet metal intake manifold, Head games ported head with ferrea valvetrain, comp cams stage 2 NA cams, GMPP cam gears and balance shafts, knife edged crank with eagle rods and arias 11.0:1 pistons. To get the power to the ground im working on getting a 4T65E out of a grand prix. IM going a true stand alone route using a Haltech E6X EMS. $1000 for an engine management that will always make more than HP Tuners and be more fine tunable. That combo should throw around 250HP if not more. hope that helps
Yeah i think ill go NA for sure. I was planning on getting the carbon vis hood and carbon trunk so that'll get the weight down some, and then ill see what else i cant do about weight. Then ill have to look into getting some internal engine parts like the cams valvetrain ported head maybe patriot head balance shafts and all that.

go turbo. your car is too heavy.
all motor is best reserved for base models and 1SV's due to their lack of options and thus, low curb weight

getting rid of a/c will also give you some hp.

well according to the OP's profile,he has alot of audio so that might a start for weight reduction. As well as the question of ,is this going to be a drag car or DD??

The only thing different between the auto and the manual setups is the way the charge pipes from the turbo run to the intercooler. Everything else is the same. After paying 3+ g's for a good turbo kit, what's another hundred or so to have the few charge pipes made up? You should be more worried about needing a wideband and tuning software...as that can cost you upwards of another grand.
I also personally wouldn't worry about weight reduction...especially if it involves custom fabricating carbon fiber panels. That's hardly worth it on a street car...and on an auto at that. You won't get anywhere near the price to performance from that kind of mod compared to a boosted motor. And just so you are aware, turbos
LOVE autos.

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
Hey Madjack,
Carbon doors are great for the track. thats why im buying spares to get the mold for the outer skin. Hey 150 lbs of weight savings for a 4DR for using carbon skins and lexan windows.
na all teh way man anyone can throw a turbo on lol thats what im doin lol but anyway i good na build just rocks and is way neater
Two of the biggest weight savers is a CF hood and decklid, looks awesome too. Also with the CF decklid, you'll have the choice of leaving the stock spoiler off, saving a few more pounds, and deleting that reflector bar between the tails too.
