engine swap

alright guys, heres a few questions, i know you probably get these rather often, but here goes...

my 22 ohv engine from my 00 cav is getting to around 100K miles on it right now... i want to eventually boost this car, but for now im planning an engine swap

im going to get rid of the transmission as well because A its a 3 speed auto, and B i dont think a new engine would be very easy to bolt up with one less gear...

im kind of a rookie with motors, but i have some willing friends who have said they will help me. they have performed swaps on their vehicles with great success.

what motor should i swap in there?

22 eco and tranny

38 sc and tranny

if im working on the engine swap, i wont be driving the car for a while, but im trying to think of the best candidate for the swap. on the following grounds

ease of swap (obviously the eco)

reliability

performance

time to swap

parts and cost.

right now im working on preliminary plans.... im looking into doing this in the spring of 08. also, if i do this and go with the s.c. are there any people in or around MD that would like to lend a hand...

i was also thinking of a 3.4 L quad cam - my friends alero has one, and its a hell of a motor for that car... i understand they have water pump, and transmission issues, but i figure why stop halfway... i always go all out... its the way i do things... but i really like my car. just not the motor. its nothing that people go "wow" about.

how hard would that be to swap in... what all would need to be relocated, cut, removed, replaced...
