I have a 98 cavalier 2.2 engine that is pretty much shot. i have a new trans and clutch. Someone is trying to sell me a 2.2L engine from a 2000 sunfire for a great price but i am not sure if it will fit by just plug and play. he states the intake and egr valve may need to be changed. i have seen the engine and it looks the same as the current 2.2 i have. i thought in 2000 they changed to ecotec or i may be wrong. So my question is will the engine out of the 2000 sunfire 2.2 fit my 98 cav 2.2 and if so will any mods need to be done?

They changed from the 2.2L to the 2200 motor in 98, they ran that motor from 98-02 when the ecotec became an option. So the 00 2200 will be the same (no mods needed) as the 98.
