ok, i have a '99 z24 5spd, i have the rk motor mounts(upper/lower) & 2.25 catback exhaust. i have a lot of friends w/hondas.. some turbos, and they always give me crap about my car, i need to be faster than them at the strip, when i first got this car i ran a 16.00, i deffinetly need to be faster!! what can i do? im working on a limited budget, havin to pay rent & bills, i've thought about making a turbo kit, i have done my own on a 94 hatch honda i owned, using a '89 supra turbo. Any suggestions would be tons of help!!! thank you!!

Well for starters, since your on a budget Nitrous is a conveinent thing since you use it only when you want to. As for tuning you could get hp tuners this way you can make the most out of every mod you do to the Z in the long run. Look into getting the 086 head and the HO cams, There is a ton of stuff out there you just got to look around, look for posts by SpeedracerZ,
Scott (section8cav), and some of the top 10 guys on the racing list .....located in the racing forum.

If you want to be as fast as their hondas, buy a honda.

I know man I was just messing with ya. Theres too many new people that post threads lik, "how can I make my auto 2200 cavalier beat my friends 10 second mustang?", which are pointless threads.

If you wana read up some on hptuners check the tuning section. If you wana boost, piece together your own turbo kit for realy cheap. You can use hptuners or you can use something cheaper like megasquirt or something if you have the knowledge. Just do a search if you have any questions, most likely its already been covered.

If you are working on a limited budget, anti-nitrous, and adamant about beating your friend's Hondas, a custom turbo setup is going to be the biggest "bang for the buck." I wouldn't bother with HPtuners either. Don't get me wrong, HPtuners is the only software solution for the J-body, and does a great job, but for $650, you can find better things to spend that cash on to give you more HP. I personally am in the middle of putting together Megasquirt-II for tuning my cav which is a little more than half the cost of HPtuners and far better (for fuel trim at least).

Your best friend in all of this however, will be a wideband gauge. I believe your Hondas come with them stock, but we get shafted with the cheap ass narrow band o2 sensors.

Alrighty, i dont get on the net very often... but i picked up a garret 20g turbo w/t3 flange, i found a web page(forgot it, not @ home) but they have a log style t3 mani w/external wastegate flange for $300 and they also have a oil line kit for about $100 or so.. i think the turbo kit is the route im going The turbo kit i made for my friends '00 civic ex coupe put him @ 14.3 from 17.1 (last year w/intake & exhaust ) but he had it tuned by someone else.. im not that great w/that part. Thanks for the posts i'll keep you updated w/ pics as soon as i get further
