My down pipe from my header snapped at the flex should I just go with stock from the junkyard and risk it breaking again or get an aftermarket, would an aftermarket be an even bigger risk. I was lookin at the rksport 4-2-1 any opinions
Sounds like you are referring to your stock exhaust manifold and not a so-called header. If you are thinking of getting an exhaust put on in the near future, I'd reccommend just doing a header-back system ONCE and be done with it. Your profile isn't filled out at all so I will just leave it up to you to tell everyone what car and motor you have and I'm sure they'll have plenty of great suggestions for you about what's good and bad. Good luck.
Mine broke right there at the flange where is connects to the exhaust mani. jsut weld it thats what i did and i havent had any problem with it since and its beena bout 3 years no leaks or any thing.
sorry about that I have a 97 sunfire gt 2.4
sounds like u may have a bad engine mount. maybe try installing your new exhuast u want, then get some solid engine mounts and you should be just fine.
yeah, I would probably hit up some after market engine mounts, unless of course you have been planning on getting a new header with a spring-style collector. Although, I would say that you have an issue with the engine mount(s). Take care of those before you put money into fixing the header otherwise it'll probably just break again.

I have been looking and looking and i cant find a header that comes with a down pipe and thats what broke
There is an aftermarket company that makes a OEM down pipe...... with a better flex piece on it. Check AutoZone, AdvanceAuto, or Checker......

what you need is new engine mounts along with either new header & down pipe or get it welded...but you still need the mounts....

not 100% true!!!! Both my '97 Z24, and my buddies '98 Z24 had that same piece break, and we BOTH had the RKS upper and lower engine mounts!. The piece where it breaks is thin, and doesnt take much to crack.
On my '97, I had it covered under warrenty...... emissions warrenty (it is the CAT pipe after all
)...... 8 years, 100k miles I believe.....
My buddies '98, he picked up the down pipe from AdvanceAuto.
