Catalytic Converter

I currently have a pacesetter header and cat-back on my car. The thing is that I had adrenaline install it since I had neither the time, the experience, nor the tools to pull the engine. Adrenaline told me that I would probably be better off leaving the stock cat for backpressure. Is there any truth in this or should I go ahead and get a high-flow cat? (granted I will once I get my turbo set up)
If I remember right the piping (end of header to tip minus cat) is 2.5".
