Engine work
Friday, April 13, 2007 7:56 PM
I just noticed that one of my cam covers has a small leak and a little oil is coming out

So i was planning on doing Secret Cams soon anyways so now ill be able to and fix the gaskets

While in there ill do the timing assembly and water pump

I now have

HO Manifold
Pacesetter Header
2.25 Exhaust
High Flow Cat
Borla Pro XS
HP Tuners tuned
Short Ram intake

What else can i do while the motor is out to help out with more power?

Port and Polish ?

Suggestions

Thanks

bigger TB, upper and lower engine mounts, tranny mounts if you have a manual. if you have an auto B&M shift plus, port and polish, and a 3 or 5 angle valve job

do all what 99redz24 said and if you really wanna pump out some power, since you have HPtuners you could swap on a 086 head, bigger injectors if not already done, then tune for that. **CAUTION** doing this on a stock block with stock pistons will drasticly raise your compresion ratio and will force you to run 91 - 94 octane pump gas. but if you have a .020" overbore and lower compression pistons you should be okay running around 10.7:1 keeping in mind that you use the 9:1 compression pistons. if you get custom 8.5:1 pistons from karo at car customs i believe you'd be running around 10.2:1 or less and for sure be runnin 87 octane. theres a ton of info out there if you are looking to take that path. Good luck with your build

Sorry i missed a few things

I am running the 56 mm TB
I have the Upper TTR Engine Mount

I dont want the shift plus cause i have had my Tranny adjusted with HP Tuners

I think the Biggest thing id like to do is the Port and Polish for sure

What kind of gains would i see?

i dont think anyone dyno'd just a port and polished head. like i was saying, that goes well along with a valve job

It wouldn't matter. Unless they are CNC'ed, every port job will yield much different results.
