ok... just looking for some imput from the ppl that either have used the aem alternator pulley, or are using it right now.
i would like specific details:
what pulleys EXACTLY your using with it
any charging issues
basically trying to gather up any and all information twords this thing as i would like to prove once and for all if its really junk or not.
its not working for me... i wanna see if its working for anybody at all.
What do you mean not working? Does it not bolt on what? I have never used a Alt pulley (aftermarket). I have never had charging issues either.
FU Tuning
i have one works fine no probs whatsoever
^^^^Me too, never have had an issue with it.
STREET ANTIX, it's coming...
I think thats whats going on with my car that the alt is going out, cus there is no way in hell a brand new battery can only last 2 days. Im gonna pull the alt on friday and have it checked.
sndsgood wrote:use it on a stock alternator and i bet you dont have any issues with it.
huh? why do u say that...?? IMO, it should only be used as the SOLE underdrive pulley, when used with a underdrive crank i dont think ANY alternator would last, stock or otherwise.
ive yet to decide on what im going to do...
md ld9 stock sized crank and alt
md ld9 stock sized crank and AEM alt
rsm UD crank and md ld9 alt
i do believe im leaning more twords both of md ld9's stock sized pulleys, JUST so i have enough juice to run the stereo, now... on my other z24, thats a different story, i may just run the rsm crank and the aem alt and say screw it to yield the absolute most power.
I'm using the AEM underdrive pulley along with the RKSport underdrive crank pulley.
Yes, there are charging issues and you must keep the revs to about 1300 rpms with the auto Z24 to keep it in charge mode.
This gets to be a pain in the butt when stuck in traffic as you're in constant discharge mode. I'm constantly having to maintain a high idle while I sit there in slow moving traffic or in a traffic jam.
On the alternator, no problems.
Battery issue, no problems.
Since I've got a volt gauge, have no issue with keeping track of my charging or batter voltage.
I also have a solar charger in the back deck that keeps a trickle charge during the day while I'm at work. Works great.
As much as an occasional pain as it is with the traffic jams that can occur, won't go back to the stock setup with stock pullies.
Hope this helps you z yaaaa
