The ProXS is cheaper, supposed to sound more "mellow", which is what I want. I dont mind a little noise but dont wanna be heard from a mile away. I'm driving an Ecotec btw. Is the ProXS a crappier quality? Less performance? How do either of these sound?? I'll be running it with a Tusuado heard, Magnaflow Cat (All 2.5") and GM S/C. Any help would be great.
Pro xs is much better. But I believe the pro xs is gona be louder. From the different borla's I have heard first hand, the pro xs is a little raspier. Altough I have an XS and I am pretty happy with it.
I can help you out actually.
I have and Ecotec as well with the Borla Turbo on 2.25" piping with a high flow cat. It sounds very nice, very aggressive but not loud unless you get really get on it.
My buddy has 2.4 with a Pasesetter header, high flow cat, 2.25" piping and a Borla ProXS muffler. It is louder, but more mellow and not as aggressive.
They are both straight through mufflers so i doubt there will be any performance difference. I originally wanted to go with the ProXS but couldn't find anyone that sold it around here so i just went with the Turbo, couldn't be happier.
So i suggest if you want something nice and aggressive when you want it to be, go with the Turbo. If you want something a bit "calmer" go with the ProXS.
I have a video of my exhaust from inside the car, i will upload it later for you.
There you go, thats in the car with all the windows up.
Just another thing, if you don't want your exhaust to be really raspy get a resonator put in. It will take the majority for the "buzz" out of it. i suggest something around 18-24 inches.
Hope that helps.
go with borla its much nicer sound
A rule I remember from an article by a well respected man named Vizard was "muffer flow rating cfm number at so much drop should be double the engines peak (net/gross?) hp output." Keep that in mind with everything hedder-back and you'll be okay.
Just thought I'd throw that out there for ya.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
Only one more question, I e-mailed Borla, no answer. On their site it says the inlet/outlet is center/offset on all of the turbo mufflers. I need an offset inlet/center outlet. Can the muffler just be flipped or is it a 1 way flow??
I dont think you can flip it
Im Newts buddy with the Pro XS
The exhaust shop was able to install mine just fine even though i got the wrong offsets
Go with Borla for sure you wont regret it
My turbo is a center/offset...and I'm using the offset as my inlet....i never thought there would be a problem.
However if you are concerned you could just get a center/center and as long as you get new piping the muffler shop should be able to make it work.
