Lookin to throw a cat back on a 99 z24... im either getting a megan racing or a magnaflow, cant decide... the megan is about half the price, but can someone tell me if the magnaflow is worth the extra $300....

Piping is piping. As long as they are both 2 1/4" and mendral bent, the performance difference shouldn't be a difference (atleast that you would notice).

Most of the time, companies like Magnaflow will charge more because they are using stainless steal piping which is more expensive and also include resonators when some companies might not include any.

Ultimately, it's up to you.

Agreed.

I went cheaper by having a local shop fab me up a pipe and wield on a muffler (magnaflow). Reason being that not many people are going to be up the a** of your car so if its all about performance, then fab one up, save some moeny. If you want the looks, then get the others.

What do ya think on average it would cost for a shop to do that??? Im gonna be a new cat, muffler, and resonator and have a shop weld it all up. Any ball park estimates for cost or work???

hard to say because different shops charge different for labour. The best way to find out is to call some local shops and they could give u an estimate. IMO the cost will be about $500 CDN, but that's just a guess. For my old Honda Accord, my custom setup with piping, resonator and muffler came out to be $300 CDN maybe...but that was with some @!#$ty fart cannon

Dang... I didnt get charged that much but then again... it depends on the shop you take it too.

I got charged $75 for the pipe (bends and all) and wields for everything came up to $125
I guess the price rises depending upon the muffler, res, and cat. I got a magnaflow for $55 (Pep Boys- I hate their store), High flow res from the classifies for $25, and a cat from Nopi online stor for $60.

Still working great... No rust, no leaks (at least not yet- knocking on wood), no problems
Just research around town. Or check the classifieds

Price depends on the type of bends they are making, time it takes to make it and the type of piping they are going to be using.

Just make sure you don't get crush bends. Ask them this before hand.

Where ya located buddy, we do custom exhaust installs in Port Byron, NY out of Stainless Steel. We typically use Dynomax Mufflers for customers who just want the work done, but will install it with whatever you want in there. We did everything in my car with Magnaflows since we were looking for sound comparisons.

Here is a few links some of the install jobs we have done in the past..

My 99 Cavalier

Nissan 300Zx Twin Turbo

1967 Camaro

2000 Grand Am w/ 3400 ( and headers)

Just a couple teasers, we do everything from imports to domestics. Shoot me an E-mail if you have any further questions, we'd be glad to help ya out if we can.
