2.4 valve guide installation
Wednesday, March 28, 2007 3:59 PM
So i've got my bronze guides and my head is all apart, except for the valve guides. I've tried punching them out but that doesn't work. Is there a ring holding in the top or are they threaded? any thing would help, thanks.

Pretty sure you need an air hammer to get them out and back in...

They are pressed in, not threaded. You need a special tool with an air hammer or press. The tool is basically a rod with the same diameter as your valve stem and it has a ledge to push it down. You will damage them if you don't use this tool. I got mine from the snap-on guy at work.

just take it to a machine shop it will cost you anywhere from $60-$100 to have them taken out and new ones put it.
