I'm looking to built a full carbon fiber short ram air for my 2003 ecotec and I'm wondering what is the better size to go with. I think of 2.5 inch inner. What do you think about this.
well just to give you a heads up, my aem intake is a 3" inner diameter
where are you getting your piping?
supercharged 2.4L alero

K&N typhoon short ram and RK Sport short ram are both 2 3/4 outside diameter, which should be at or a little over 2 1/2 inside, so id say you should be ok.

This is the spec for Ecotec or 2200?
^^ wouldnt matter. either would fit. 3 inch is common as well. basically, whatever you do, probably the easiest thing to do would be to buy a cheap intake for your engine from ebay, measure it, and make your carbon fiber tube to the same dimensions as something you know fits.

I don't want to buy a cheap one on ebay because it cost me 50$. because i'm from canada and they charge me big shipping. To make a carbon fiber one it cost 30$.
i dont know what to tell you then. if you've never had any experience making piping, then just make sure you find lots of pictures of your particular engine with a short ram installed.

My car is in storage for the winter. It should get out in a week or so. then I could mesure every thing right
intake piping size shouldnt be much bigger than throttle body

Every AEM I've seen is 2.75". Including 2.4l and Eco CAI.

2.75'' Inner?
either way you do it, you're not going to see any real difference. how much custom fabrication have you done?

AEM CAI is 2.75 outside just like the K&N, injen RK short rams. . that size goes for the 2200 as well, especially the CAI...the hole it goes through in the fender is onlya bit over 2.75 so thats all that will fit any J, regardless of engine.
