2.2L crankshaft

Hey just needed to know if anyone has found a performance crank for the 2.2L ohv, I've researched alot of websites and found billet stroker cranks for the 2.2 eco, but not the ohv, any suggestions???

The stock crank is stronger than you think. If you could manage to break one in an ohv your a god among men. Honestly though, the most power I have seen posted was 270 ish hp and 300tq from the ohv and it was Adler's car.....pre HPtuners.....wonder what he would have made if the software was out back then....................and nobody makes a 2.2 ohv crank

Nobody makes one.
You'll never need one.

If you're dead set on a billet crank, Crower will make it...for $2500 and 14 weeks.

2500 just a little expensive, i know the OEM is strong so I think I'll just stick with it. 270 ish is awsome for a 2.2. My build for the motor will include
pistons
connecting rods
turbo cam
valves
retainers
springs
keepers
lifters
garrett turbo
venom intake
dual catback w/ high flow cat
zex nos

anybody think my shopping list missing anything?

Keep in mind, the block will be bored honed, and all the head work done to the stock head

Ditch the zex kit and spend the money on a programmable msd and intercooler, your much better off. Ignition tuning with boost is absolutly key to keeping a motor from eating pistons/rings or whatever else if feels like puking up at the time.

Give me an Example of Ignition Tuning?

Anthony if I remember correctly Adler kept his stock cam with his built engine with the numbers he put down. You might want to look into that.

Scott- I think what purple haze was saying is that he is better off spending the money for the zex on tuning. This way timing will be pulled durring boost to help prevent detonation from happening.

The way I have mine set up is that by using the msd I can retard my ignition based on boost pressure. Meaning at lets say 6 lbs of boost I can retard the ignition say 4 degrees. And at 10 lbs I could have it set to retard 8 degrees, with the msd unit I can retard up to 30 degrees of timing. And I can set the curve how I want and fine tune everything with a laptop. Its really a great investment. The msd I have is the 6212 if you want to research it.

go standalone,

there's a j among us who's made well over 300whp with his 2.2 and is running a stock crank.

remember though, 270whp + 15% drivetrain loss, is quite a load on that crank!

If the 2.2 crank is made anything like the 2.4 crank, I would think that the 2.2 crank is fine. Stock 2.4 cranks are good for over 400hp. I never had any problems with my crank at 275hp.....that isnt saying alot tho.

275hp & 306tq - 1999 2.2 ohv
13.2 @ 108 mph
-1996 2.4 liter + Turbo + Built motor + Torco + More boost = Lots o' Power
-2000 Mustang GT + 2004 Cobra motor, Whipple 2.3 supercharger,
built rear-end,Dodge Viper spec T56 6 speed, bolt-ons = wheelies at the track!!!!!

I did have a stock cam & springs on my built 2.2. If I had to do it all over again, I would have done a turbo cam & valve springs.

GM has moved to "rolled and undercut fillets" in many of their engines. Anyone know if this is the case with the last of the 2200 engines? Better yet, anyone know of a shop which offers this service?
