Alright, so working on an engine while in the bay sucks. I've come to the conclusion, post to my spark plug torquing, that I will in all likelyhood destroy my engine on the nitrous kit I will be acquiring... Dam vacation pay is delayed, as always.
Anywho, I'd like to get myself a second engine that I can drop in. However, I'm undecided if I should choose another 2200 to build up, or purchase an Ecotec (keep in mind, I have an '02 2200 currently, and from what I can tell, this is a fairly straightforward motor). Opinions, thoughts, comments all is welcome.

you can pnp the 2200 and build it. or you can do the eco swap, build it and spend more money. you will probably spend the same amount of money building the 2200 as the eco. but theres lots of parts for the eco and easy to find, unlike the 2200. You can boost a stock eco and have 250hp and the motor wont crap out on you.
I want to share something with you - the three sentences that will get you through life. Number one, 'cover for me', Number two, 'oh, good idea, boss', Number three, 'it was like that when I got here.'
build the 2200...or swap the eco and have more power
take my word for it, I've done both..
the 2200 after I put a custom ported head on it and every bolt on known to man dyno'd at 115hp and 131tq. it was quick.. for what it was.
best e/t was 15.7 and mph was 86
my stock ecotec I swapped in dyno'd at 135hp and 140tq, and best e/t was 14.9 and mph was 90 and it was basically unmodified
with mods equaling the state of my old OHV (ported head) and a little more, I'm almost in the 13s.
go ecotec... you will never, ever look back
I'm currently working on a sticky complete with pictures about how to do this. keep an eye out for it. Until then, the original thread can be found here:

That'd be a nice swap if someone could get it to fit.

Well, may as well waste a few more posts, signed up for premium, waiting on Echeck to clear. So I think I'll run nitrous on my stock 2200, should last me long enough until I have the Eco built up.

Take off all aftermarket suspension, wheels, stereo etc. and sell the car. Once this is done go buy an '03 or newer cav or fire with the ecotec.
Haha, I'm not too sure the bank would like that one.
Besides, the whole point is to have *two* engines, one in the bay, and a second I can drop in within a day or two with my friend.
