Recently i had a mechanic look my car over for a wheel barring problem, while looking my 1997 Chevy Cavalier He said that he heard a Ticking that was probably a Rod knocking. So i Put the Cavalier in the garage and got a lone for a new car. But now I'm looking to fix it back up and i'm looking for a 2.2 Liter 1997 engine in the Michigan Area but i have yet to find one, I would like a crate engine, but those are hard to find too. So i guess what i'm asking is, Does any one know where i can find an engine???
Well, I'd check to see what the problem is first. I'd be willing to bet it's just the timing chain tensioner, which can be replaced for less than $100.

better a delay than a disaster.
I'll have that checked and see if its that, but the Oil pressure light has been coming on and blinking at me every so often. I hear thats either the engine or the pump not doing its job. the car has like 197000 miles on it. and its an Auto Trans.
But i'll have the mechanic check that out.
If it isn't the tensioner, just chuck the car, unless you can find a great deal locally on a replacement engine. That's alot of mileage for an engine and a tranny.

2002 Sunfire -->
- Ractive steering wheel
- ASA 17" EM9 + Nexen N5000 215/45/17 (steelies for winter)
- D-Spec Lowering kit @ 1.4" (issues currently
)
- Rockford P250.1 + MTX MZS1004 + Panasonic CQ-C8313U head unit
- Barely legal tint.
If the tensioner's bad you should mention the oil hole in the tiny "freeze plug" above the cam. They can get plugged with sludge and the new tensioner won't last long without oil.
