Reasonable price for a 2.3HO complete

$1295.00 plus 95.00 for freight. This is for a complete engine with power steering components, ECM and wiring harness. Does this price sound good? Oh yeah.. 40,000 miles. Engine has been hot tested and runs good.

Seems very high to me, for a used engine thats at least 12 years old.

does seem abit high for what we can get a used engine for...i dont care about the 12 year old thing since it will still out perform any gm rbanger today ..and i like the fact that it comes with the power steering, wiring, and pcm..but tell me..is it the nbody pcm and wiring or the 95 pcm that would work better for the jbodys?
i like the reasonable shipping and thing someone that this would make it pretty easy on someone wanting to do this swap from scratch...i just think alot of people on here are gonna want it cheaper..nothing personal i just know how people are ...they would rather pay $300 for a bare engine out a yard with 200k and no idea if it works or not than pay a grand for a lower milage engine with a grauntee....sad isnt it lol

I paid 100$ for mine, with the tranny pulled, and 92K lol.

But you have to ask, why is it in the Jy, if there is a gurantee it is good. try and talk them down, not many people want 2.3 HOs realistically.

yeah ive been going back and forth with the guy in email he seems like a good enough guy I bet i could talk him down a few hundered. Im still researching what goes into the 2.4 to 2.3 swap. I believe the engine is out of a 1990 Beretta. Id also like to do a 5 speed swap. What tranny do you guys recommend for the 2.3?

USE THE 2.4 WIRING HARNESS!!!! the engines are so close to each other as far as fitment and location of sensors that rewiring the car is plainly a waste of time and complexity. use the 2.4 harness and ecu, but tune it (you will need to, to see any benefit from it). do something about the cam position, or just run it in batch. you dont HAVE to change the trans but the isuzu sucks imo and youd be better off with the nvg form a 92-94 (internal slave). gl

btw yes that price is high! unless it came wih a serious warranty (hahahahaha) i wouldnt buy it. imo if you are gonna have to rebuild it for peace of mind then add the rebuild cost estimate to the engine and see if it is a better deal

left out 1 major thing. Power steering. mate the two systems. use the PS setup on the 2.3 engine and mate the hoses with the rack setup from the J. they are high pressure so dont jerry it, do it right.
