It works great on my ecotec...
how u figure? maybe i can fix mine, i did exactly what was spose to be done
wait, are you saying that you didn't have a code before you did this? you do realize that the whole idea of this mod is to stop a code from coming up, so if you didn't have it in the first place then you wouldn't have to do this.

Does this work on the eco or not?
good info.
i fried a few 02 simulators on my 96( dont have a resitor in the plug like 97-00) opps.
anyways. seems like a cheap fix. i will give it a try .
i checked autozone, they didnt have anything on the shelf. but i will run around to a few more stores soon.

Should be in the help section. If you have any problems let me know I can get them local no problem.

SWEET MOD! *gives me ideas*
I <3 the .org sometimes for this info.

im gonna use this when i gut my cat
you scratch my ride IMA EAT YO CHILDREN
worked for me and all i have is a resonator and test pipe
I had my cat taken out, and I immediately threw a code. I did this, and the code went away and has never come back. And that has been 8 months ago now.

Anyone know if this would work for the 1st O2 sensor? I have a pacesetter header and the CEL comes and goes, comes more in the winter. I think I am going to try it, let me see if I have this right.
I need 2 18mm sparkplug anti-foulers
Drill one out with 1/2" drill bit
Put the non drilled one in the drilled one
Put the O2 sensor in the now 2 anti-foulers
Install in O2 bung on the exhaust
Thanks.

DO NOT do this on the first O2 sensor. It will not work for that code. The reason for that code is the exhaust flows too well and the sensor does not heat up quick enough.

So any sugestions for fixing my CEL then?

Sorry if I want to find a solution to my problem. Has anyone tried drilling a new hole for the sensor up higher on one of the runners? That would expose it to more heat, closer to the block, right?

I'm sorry too, in fact I think we are all sorry... but I bet it was funny back in the day when, I believe it was Tim Allen used electrical tape to fix the blinking VCR time...
chill out man, no need to cry about it.
someone already said that it is because the header flows so much better, and the sensor doesn't heat up quick enough. Does it hinder your car any? Does it cause it to go into limp mode? Or is it just annoying you that the CEL is on? Do you need it off to pass inspection?Does it stay on or does it eventually go off while driving down the road?

btw, I don't think it would be a good idea to drill it up higher into one of the runners because its supposed to monitor the engine collectively, not just one cylinder. Also, if you don't already know this, our O2 sensors are heated, not just by the exhaust system but they heat themselves, hense the multiple wires going to it instead of a single. which could very well be another reason why its throwing a CEL, like John Higgins said, its not warm enough to get a proper reading.
Have you searched other threads? I don't believe you are the first person with this issue, I do believe I have seen it before...

Yes I have seached and participated in other treads on this issue, and the only "solution" that was presented was to weld on another nut, thus keeping the sensor our of the higher flow area. I remember only a few people trying it, b/c you have to remove the header to do that, and it was hit or miss. The conclusion about the 1st O2 sensor problem was thought to be the sensor wasn't getting heated fast enough, and since the flow is greater some combination of the faster flow and the sensor being cold caused the CEL for the 1st O2 sensor. So when I saw this I thought it would be worth a try. No i don't have the thread for that disscusion, its just something I remember reading around the time I put my header in and was pissed that it threw a CEL. I could be totally wrong and will probably get flamed b/c I don't have proof. I will probably just try it sense at most it will waste $3-$5 and half an hour of my time, right?

this mod might be a little extreme, it might take it too far out of the flow, you might wanna try throwing some washers in between the sensor and the header first. I know there isn't much thread there or maybe just use one antifowler and see how that works. I think two would be too much.

Yea I was thinking of just using one anti-fouler. I think I am going to try it today. I will let you know the results.
PSN ID: Phatchance249
Nah, I doubt 1 anti-fouler is going to work. The O2 sensor is longer than one of them. That is the reason you you two, so the entire sensor and tip is encapsualted in the anti-fouler. If you just put one in, the tip will portrude into the exhaust, which defeats the purpose of the mod. It is supposed to be outside the flow of gases, but receive a small delayed signal.

Once again using this mod from this thread will not help your code for the first O2 sensor. It will make it worse. Yopu could actually cause damage to your motor doing it on the first sensor. Also our cars DO NOT have a heated O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold/header. The rear O2 sensor is heated, but not the first one. This is why we have this problem on the first sensor. Another thing you can do is install a heated O2 sensor. To do this you will need to do some wiring, and research for that.
