You dont. The 6AL is the wrong one for that motor.

You install the MSD DIS-II on it.

If it won't work for our cars WHY THE @!#$ WOULD ANYONE HERE BUY IT???? Not only were you an idiot for buying it without reseaching ANY your an even bigger idiot and tool for now trying to sell it to someone else when you know it won't work. Just because your friend said he thought it would work you did no research? So if he told you pot was legal you'd buy a couple pounds from the first person you saw selling some?

Tool.

Sorry, but I really dont think that was necessary.

The 6AL probably can work on a GM 4cyl, but.... not on ours because we have no distributor. I'm sure MSD probably sells quite a few of these because of this only to have them returned/exhanged for the DIS-II unit.

For all the flaming that was done. Thanks for making JBO even more worthless than it already was.

you could use it and run a distributor. MSD makes one. rig up an electric P/S pump too if you want... or you can sell it and get the DIS one.

The MSD Ecotec distributor is specifically designed to work with the Digital 7 Ignition.

it could work with a regular MSD. doesnt take rocket science to figure out how.. just saying he could do it if he wants.

an Eco with an MSD, Distribtor, and carb would be rather neat.

It would. Someone I was talking to had a plan for it...but hasn't acted on it yet. It's gonna be funky when it happens.

Two MSD 6ALs could be used on a J.
Just not one by itself.

how would that work???

Re: MSD 6AL...

The 6AL can only control one coil.
J's have 2 separate coils so one unit won't work.
but 2 units -- one for each coil --- can be made to function, but RPM setting will be twice whatever the settings are: i.e. 3k chip = 6k rev limit, because it will essentially be working in the non-existant 2cyl mode.

The dis2 would be the better choice though.

Thats how my black car was setup, 2 6AL's. Long before they came out with the DIS-II,I was running MSDs on my 2.0/2.2 hybrid race motor.

Yep. I remember some pictures of that setup. That's a great idea too because it allows for multiple sparks for the entire rpm range. If you look at MSD output on a 4 cyl you'll find that it switches to conventional single spark around 5000 rpm. On a V8 the switch is around 2500 rpm.
