I figured this would be the best place for this. I've been surfing the net trying to find an exact answer but i cant find a step by step on it.
How does Styrofoam Casting (lost foam casting) work. Cause if the metal is hot won't it melt the foam? i'm normally very good at understanding stuff liek this but this jsut befuddles me. any casting experts here?

ive never done lost foam but i have done sand casting and thats one of the easiest ways to do it
many changes in the making

I made some aluminum casting back when I was working on my associates degree. They are really pretty easy.
