quick exhaust question
Wednesday, November 08, 2006 11:30 AM
So I've done my full exhaust- pacesetter 4-1 ceramic coated, magnaflow hi flow cat and resonator and muffler, all with larger pipes (2.25).

i keep burning out my cat. i know that ceramic coated headers keep more of the heat inside the pipes, therefore keeping exhaust temps higher, which is probably whats burning out my cats.

the big question- if i went and got myself the uncoated (painted) 4-1 pacesetter header, i shouldnt burn out any more catalytic converters right? (id replace this one at the same time i do the header)

oh yeah, i have an 02 2200

so yeah, the cat is definately clogged- car wont go over 4200rpm
i'll probably just order a new one. anybody know why i keep burning them out?

i was thinking instead of getting another 94035, what if i got this one- clicky

its longer and has no o2 bung but i can have the shop weld one onto the pipe after the cat. opinions?

i need to get this taken care of quick as its affecting the reliability of my car.

so what should i do? get a larger cat or just replace the one i hvae with another and get an uncoated header? (i'm still only assuming that its the extra hot exhaust gas from the header thats burning out the cat)

Check the O2 sensor, too much fuel not combusting in the motor. That is what the cat does, burn the leftover fuel from engine combustion.
