i havent really heard much talk about adjustable cam gears. but i have seen them in the gm eco build book anyone got some info on power gains/prices and any general info?

Worthless. Stock cams and all aftermarket cams have been designed to run at zero timing.

And because I'm an ass according to you and have to point my 2 cents in...what do you ahve that would make you think you need them?

well, if i could get my hands on them, ( the quad-4 ones )
i would use them to avd my intake cam and ret. my ext cam, to help with my valve over lap. just like GM made them for back in the early 90's

i think brian has some, i just have to con him out of them.

hahah

lol alright your not an ass all the time but u make some dick head remarks but i guess you can anyway i wanted to know if they were a power gainer themselves or if they only helped other performance parts.

read about cam phazing (sp?) avd cam timing can raise your peak tourqe, retarding lowers it,

with a DOHC motor it is best used if you have big cams, and are running boost, as off seting your valve overlap will help the scavdging effect, or help so you dont "blow your charged air out your still open exhaust ports"

the screats about turbo, superchergers, and n2o is a great book, read it.

they are not worthless, they have their place just like any other performance part, it all depends on application, i've seen some very good gains from messing with cam timing.

as for the quad4 ones, i've made my own, i'll post up some info and a how to once i get the engine together but its really not that hard, takes some drilling and some time so you can use an offset dowel much like used on the "V" engines to advance and retard their cams.

In SOME applications they are good. On the Ecotec motor they have been proven to not do anything for the stock cams or the aftermarket ones out now.

not true once again, many aftermarket cams suffer from overlap.

Blew it up, build numbers coming soon

^^^ they don't "suffer" from overlap, some have overlap, some don't. It based on aplication

Overlap isn't something cams suffer. It's something built in. Sheesh.

Some applications need a lot and some need none.

^ yep.

ill dumb this down a little,

lots of overlap+turbo= bad

N\A+ big cams and high reving=good.

ret camtiming=lower peak tourqe.

avd cam timing = higher peak tourqe.

but with DOHC you can do both, this is why GM made +4-4 cam gears for the LGO motors.

really guys get that book and read it.

The build book? Also worthless for a alot of applications. Says a lot of part will work with factory setups when they won't.

hell no not that book,

"the screats of turbocharging, supercharging and N2O"

starts off really basic, and ends one IPW and cam phasing\profiles.
great stuf.
