I just had a quick Lifter question. I noticed that a few of my lifters were springy and some were'nt.lol .Are they seized up or are the supposed to be like that?
Did you totally take the lifters out or did you just take off the top of the cam housing?
i took em out all the way cuz i was gonna replace them but than i saw they didnt seem that bad. I still have em all in the same order as the were in the head, just in case.
Lifters by themselves aren't springy, if you had them in while they were SPRINGY as you say, your assesment was probably because of which lopes of the cams were up.
Well im holding a lifter and the top is flat an looking at the bottom it goes in about 1/2 inch and inside there there is a piece that i can push in and its springy? some arent tho.
hmm maybe I didn't look THAT closely at my JBP lifters when I bought them!!!!!! Sorry don't know what to say!!!
But I don't THINK mine were like that but I could always be wrong!!!

a hydraulic lifter by nature is "springy" untill its pumped up and preloaded, normally once a hyd. lifter has been run in an engine you shouldnt beable to press in the lifter very easy at all ( lots and lots of force)
it wouldnt suprise me if you had a few collapsed lifters in the bunch
