I currently have a 99 sunfire with a 2200...im doing aeco swap this winter but the one thing im curious about is the rad. What years can i get away with that will fit. The engine going in is a standard. what all years ect will fit? thanks alot..phil
i don t think u can. i think u need the 03-05 rad. i found this in an older post RADIATOR: The radiator for an ecotec is the exact mirror image for that of an OHV so you need an 03+ radiator. I don't think its a good idea to run 3 feet of radiator hose in an X shape under the hood.
but i maybe wrong so dont take my word 4 it.
yah i was pretty sure i ned the 2003 up rad but i want to make sure they are very pricey here..about 500 bucks for astock replacement..phil
get a stock replacement on ebay for like 109 plus shipping brand new
Hmm i looked and all the ones i can find are for a auto. Can someone show me alink please of one for a standard? much appreciated phil
Ecotec swap mechanical information
thats the thread I made about my ecotec swap into my 2002 cav
all jbody radiators will bolt up the same, however you need a radiator for the ecotec. The upper and lower hoses for the 2200 are on the wrong sides. The ecotec radiator is the opposite of the 2200 radiator.
you can use a radiator for an automatic just the same, the only thing you'll notice is the unused portion of it for the trans cooler (its internal, so the only thing you'll see is two open holes on the radiator)
you can use that for an oil cooler or something similar, or just leave it open like I have and not use it at all.
A brand new OEM rad goes for about $150 from a local radiator place
good luck with the 99 electronics, I unfortunately cannot help you with that.
here's a tip: when ordering parts for your ecotec swap, always say your car is a 2003 or higher... the ecotec was the only engine available from 2003 up, so there won't be any confusion as to "which 2.2" you have.
Yah i acually have your write up... as for the rad thats awsome..and for electronics i have the entire car harness for a 2003 eco...just need the rad..the one axle and tranny brackets and im set...i think..lol..phil
