Does anybody have info about them?
I have one that I just tried and there seem to be no rev limiter. I shifted at 8000rpm not to damaged the engine and I didn't hit it so I was wondering. Also, does it have less timming than a W41 ecm cause it seemed to run better between 7000rpm and 8000rpm compared to my W41 ecm between 7000rpm and 7500rpm.

John, Karo had it about 2 years ago and I bought it from him. I never tried it before today. I kept it in my bedroom all that time. I already asked Quad4forum. Nobody seem to know anything about those Ecm. It's a piece of history that I won't sell. I asked Mantacrap once and Tim only tried to sell me one of "their" chip.
Chris, the part number is 22551577 That's on a little sticker that say "Rocket Part 22551577"

get the binary copied off that ecu!!! please!! I think slowolej has a ripper/burner. that way others can burn it and in case anything happens to yours you can replace it.

i should be able to get it from Tecnacar, that who we go through for all are GM electornics.

I am guessing that it is just a chip right? Sry, I am odb-1 illiterate, so dont rape me, but, could you take that chip and make ANY 2.3 ecm run say a W41 camed quad? As long as the 2.3 ecu had the same functions, manual/auto a/c or no a/c? If so, this could be good, you should burn them and resell them.
It's not that easy. You can buy a W41 chip at Gm for about 40$. The problem is, it will give you a code 26 since the chip doesn't "fit" with the ecm. Some ecm will work (91-93) with certain chip. I don't know witch one tough. I have 3 Ecm and I just switch them around. Easier than changing the chip.

The Rocketparts ecm was designed for Showroom Stock class racing, as with many other Q4 / Cutlass Rocketparts. I still have the GM Rocketparts catalog which also has DRCE blocks, Rocket Block smallblocks, and other kewl stuff. The ecm complemented a whole host of "upgrade" parts for the FWD Cutlass of the late 80s. The binary and ecm were not emissions legal, and like other GM race only parts there was absolutely no information about them available through GM Service department channels.
I have some very good resources. For almost all stock chips I can do the following:
1) Use the 4 letter code to give part number, original application, and original ecm number
2) Use any of the above information to come up with all 4 letter codes available for a specific car
For many mystery chips I can use my burner to read the calibration then identify it including the "mask id," the 4 letter broadcast code it had when stock, and whether or not the calibration is currently stock or modified.
I also have several different types of ecms here which I can pull the covers off and look at for comparison. I've been able to identify similarities between several different number computers that way.
I'd love to get a copy of that chip, even if it's just to look through it and see what the changes are. I did get a copy of a Vette ZR1 race chip once which the owner swore was some special, super, one in the nation race chip from a special, unduplicatable GM racing computer (the chip supposedly came from the Snakeskinner). Turned out it was mostly stock from a stock ecm. lol. It had simple changes like most trouble codes were turned off, and the rev limiters were maxed out.
Anyway, I also recognize the value of the chip to you and the fact that it's probably next to impossible to find another. It would be neat to find out if the Rocketparts ecm is the same as a stocker so it wouldn't be completely worthless if something failed internally.

On the chip it say LGO witch is the Ho of course. I'd have to take it out and write down what is on it. There is no rev limiter up to 8000rpm for sure. I had my Scx ecm before and the rev limiter was at 7500 on the tach and the RP ecm went to 8000rpm. I shifted there since I don't know if there's a rev limiter.
It felt better on top compared to my W41 ecm so it may have less timming than the W41 but with a rev limiter really high.
I'd be ready to buy the stuff to read the chip but I'm not willing to send it to anybody. I just don't want to take any chances.

Probably easier to set up a chip from scratch for the 95 ecm. 95 is a different beast than the older boxes.

LOL! I don't blame ya. I'm not sure I'd want to be on the recieving end. What if it made it to me, but never made it back???
You might try asking around. Chances are you'll find someone who has a chip burner. They don't even have to be into cars to read the chip.

Chris - I bought my cams from TRS but they are from Comp Cams. You can email Comp Cams and see if they will make a set for you. 53-000-5I 53-000-5E Those are both number but they are the SAME number as the .410 226° cams.
You can ask for a set (with those part numbers) of .430" and 224° like mine. But I'm telling you right away, the peak power is HIGH, the idle is rough but mine idle good with a W41 chip (I have 12:1 compression to help it) and before 4500rpm the car pull but not hard. Once it hits 4500-5000rpm you sink in your seat.

That's exactly what I meant. Also, I don't trust delivery service. A chip that rare won't leave my place except with me attach to it. All I would like to do is read it and make a bin. I woulnd't do any burn. What I hate is that I have to take the chip appart witch scared me. Unless there's a module somewhere than can read the Eprom on the chip.

burner = reader. Same device.
Also you almost guaranteed have to erase the chip to do a burn, and erasing takes UV light (so don't pull the sticker off the chip and it won't be erased.)

I made an adapter from a 50 pin scsi cable header. There's plenty of other ways to make adapters, too.

about 3/4 of the way down the page is HDR1 which alows you to read and burn stock chips in the memcal.

So let me get this straight. All I need is the Burn1 and the HDR1 adapter to read the chip. Then I can use Tunerpro (I have the free one) to make a BIN and send it to you guys?
If it's all I need I will do it. I spent some time in tunerpro with other BIN and definition files to see how it work.

i just called comp, 203.93 ea, for the 410 cams, and i "think" another 500 to have them changed. isent 410 stock lift?
or would this set up be good for a daily driver?

Ho cams = .410" and 212°
W41 cams = .410" and 218°
W41 HG 1 = .410" and 226°
W41 HG2 = .430" and 222-224°
I'm running the Gtz on the street and it doesn't stall. I'm running 12:1 compression with those cams so it help keeping it alive at idle. I tried it once with 3.5 cylinder and got 16.3 witch is really bad. Stock I did 15.592. I lost a cylinder at the track after the 4th run so I stopped. I'll get more run this spring. I have the winter to work out all the kinds and suprise the car has for me.
I have a list of things to change to have my mind on the safe side.
Fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injectors, Wideband, 02 sensor, ...
Right now the 02 sensor play game with me and the car start on 3 cylinder witch scare me all the time.

You only need Burn1 and HDR1 to make a .bin. When you save the file it will be in "binary" format and the filename will end with ".bin" already. Tunerpro is so you can easily and correctly make changes to the binary. Before you can use Tunerpro you need to have the correct definition file, which someone will probably have to make by looking through the .bin and figuring it out. Getting a good .bin file is the first step.
If you decide to do this I'd suggest practicing reading chips on a few that are easier to replace first. It's tough to ruin a chip by reading it, but when you're starting out anything's possible.

I thought I'd add this info from my Rocketparts book. My book is dated 1993 and has a different cover than the one in the link above.
"Quad 4 Motorsports ECM
The Oldsmobile Motorsports Engine Control Module (ECM) is designed for off highway applications using the LD2 Quad 4 engine. The Motorsports ECM uses the same inputs as a production ECM to determine fuel delivery and ignition timing: MAT (Manifold Air Temperature), MAP ( Manifold Absolute Pressure); TPS (Throttle Position Sensor); Ccrank position sensor; coolant temperature sensor, and oxygen sensor. Calibrations for specific racing classes are available as sub-part numbers. This ECM supports the "Rocket Recorder" data acquisition system."
I think it's interesting that they use an O2 sensor / closed loop in a racing calibration. I've looked around before to find out what the "Rocket Recorder" is. Might be neat to see some of the old tech.
