i been trying to find out why people say that the 2.3 HO exhaust manifold is better than getting a 2.4 header and cut off the 2.4 flang and weld on a 2.3 ho flang any ideas?
Have you ever search for information about the Ho? The pacesetter header primary are what? 1.5"? Stock runners on the Ho manifold are bigger. Also, there is a header out there for the Ho, TRS is selling it. TRS primary = 1 5/8" for street and 1.75" for peak power IIRC. That end up with a 22whp gain.
The 2.4 guy gain 5-8whp with the 2.4 header. It's not a real header, it's just a copy of the 2.4 manifold.

2.3 Ho
most quad guys simply take the manifold and port it out nice...theres alot of metal to hog out

You mean LO "manifold" not "header", right?
It has been discussed...It will fit (obviously since it comes in a 3rd Gen J-body)...but doesn't flow nearly as well as a HO. There has been no mass produced header to fit a quad 4 in a j-body since the Quad 4 was only available in a J-body for one year (and a LO quad at that). So, there has really been no market for it.
TRS header doesn't fit a 3rd gen.
He was supposed to work on that, but I think it's not going anywhere...SCOTT!!!! you are supposed to chime in here...I wouldn't mind a header that ran like the 2.2L header, so that our options would be open some more, seeing as the current TRS style won't fit between the firewall and rack.
IM DOING ALL I CAN LOL ... if you wanna come down and help me put my motor in maybe itll go faster! haha
i got a new head from someone else so it should be alot sooner ...just waiting on it to get here
No real rush, I am pulling the motor out possibly in the spring to swap in the stroker (I'm catching up so you better get a move on LOL), so I would like the hearder ready around then, but if not, it can be put in after the motor...I hope.
no. 89 and older LO had a 4-2-1 header. tubler. looks like 1 3/4 primarys

problem is, the wall thickness made it restrictive, It's all discussed and Faq'd on the quad4forum. The HO manifold is THE best flowing piece out there, for the HO and W41, next to the TRS header, which gives an additional documented dyno'd 22FWHP over the HO mani.
Not to jack the thread but on a similar subject what about modding a 2.4 log style turbo manifold for the 2.3 head, Its 1 5/8"?
I have a question will the 90-92 HO exhaust manifold fit in a 2000 Z24 with an 086 head swap or will there be interferance problems? The reason I ask is because I'm building a new turbo motor with the 086 head and I'd like to run the engine na until it's broken in then put on the turbo stuff, plus that will allow me to baseline dyno it to see how much of a gain the turbo setup is worth.
2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.
... just open the wast gate up.

yes...you should have no problem running that manifold as long as the quad head is on...and as for the log style turbo manifold no it wont work...cus quads and twin cams sit at differnt angles in the engine bay..so there would be issues with routing
