Well, I have decided that I need to redo my exhaust, my muffler is crap and it is way to loud and raspy. After looking up pre-made mandrel bent exhausts I have decided that they are way to expensive so I'm just going to have a local shop make me an exhaust probably 2.25". So I went around town to all the diff shops and one shop wanted to charge me $250.00 to make the exhaust, and put on a glasspack and muffler, that is if I bought everything from him, and he uses Magnaflow mufflers. Not sure what glasspacks he uses, and the longest glasspack he can get me is 24". The other shop I went to he said he would charge me about $75.00 to make the 2.25" pipe, and he said he will make me a 30" glasspack and mount it. He can order Magnaflow mufflers for $125.00. Now here is my question..... How do you make a glasspack?? I asked him and he pretty much told me that he makes the pipe, and puts the guts in it. I was not to sure about it but he had his truck around back with duals on it and he said he has 2 25" glasspacks on it. He started it up and it sounded great! But I'm still not sure because is truck is a v8 and well I have a 2.4. And I have heard a few other cars and trucks with is glasspacks and they sound almost stock when driving normal and then sound deep and throaty when they get on them. I know this guy does good work but I have never heard of anybody makeing glasspacks. Any ideas on the subject? Should I just go out and buy a glasspack and muffler and have a shop put it on? Or give this shop a try and buy a muffler I like and have him put on his 30" glasspack with the 2.25" exhaust and my muffler for $75.00? I'm looking at a Magnaflow Muffler or a Dynomax Muffler. People seem to like both on this site.

All a glasspack is is a tube with a smaller perforated tube inside it and between them is fiberglass...that's it.

wut does the glasspack do exactly?
Actually a glasspack absorbs sound waves(frequency depend upon the size of the perforations) and a resonator deflects portions of the soundwaves and bounces them back into other soundwaves to cancil eachother out.
o, people told me before that it was the glasspacks that were helpin to make some of that noise, i guess they were wrong
Well I think I'm going to go with a 35" DynoMax Thrush Magnum Glasspack with a Magnaflow muffler and 2.5" compression bent piping. Nobody around here does mandrel bent and I'm not paying for it either. I'm not going boosted but I am going with a 35 shot Nitrous Express farther down the road.
