The truth about the secret cams.
Monday, September 11, 2006 5:40 AM
I'm looking for anyone that knows detailed specs on the secret cams as well as the stock LD9 cams. I'm looking for more than lift and duration. I'm looking for overlap of exhaust and intake specifically. I want to know when the exhaust closes and when the intake opens.

I would like to use these cams on my cavy that is going turbo, but I don't want blowby of air and fuel to occur because the exhaust is open too long while the intake is still partially open. As long as the secret cams have just as much, or less overlap as the stock LD9 that's fine. Otherwise, the charged air will force air and fuel mixture out of the exhaust making the car less fuel efficient and possibly less powerful.

Thanks for your help guys.

just look up the 2.3 LO exhaust cam , and 95 intake cam specs

they have more lift than the 2.4's , and i think a couple more degrees

Well DUH. If there wasn't a stickie the newbies would have nothing to ignore. They seem to think that's what they're there for.

Don't worry about blowby, it's reversion you need to worry about with a turbo (Believe it or not, the pressure in the exhaust manifold is normally larger than in the intake manifold, especially with today's 4-bangers using small exhaust housings to reduce spool time with oversized compressor housings).
Speedracer had an insane 12.8 run with just the secret cams and a basic turbo setup, I'd say they work fine

I dont have the overlap specs... and its hard to get them..... you need to have them in the engine, and be able to measure when they open and close the valves...... Not the easiest to do. I think I have the specs for the HO cams though.
