Ok, I read up both of the how to install the HO Intake Manifold writeups. And neither of them say anything about using the 2.3 gaskets for the install if you use the Fontana Flange. So can I just bolt the Manifold up to my 2.4 head without the gaskets, and use just the Fontana Flange? Or do I need to buy two 2.3 gaskets, modify one of them for the head side of the flange and put it together?
Second question, will the studs on the head be long enough with the Fontana flange? Or do I need to buy new studs and bolts? If I do what size and how do I get the old studs off and get the new ones on?
Thanks ahead of time for your answers.
My car has two speeds, fast and faster.
And one more question, anybody know the size of pipe plug I need for the unused sensor on the 2.3 HO intake manifold? It states if you don't have the sensor in it to use a pipe plug, but what size? And can I find it at a hardware place or a auto parts store?
My car has two speeds, fast and faster.
the plug is 1/2 NPT, hardware store
the original studs have a hex head on the end of them to get them off,
you need to replace all the intake bolts if you are using the fontana flange,
5x 8Mx50
2x 8Mx60(replaces studs)
i used 2 modified gaskets on either side of the fontana flange. worked fine. i dont know if not useing gaskets would seal correctly.
Thanks for the answers, would a M8x45mm bolts work or are they to short?
My car has two speeds, fast and faster.
Sorry to double post but what is 1/2 NPT mean for the pipe plug?
My car has two speeds, fast and faster.
i think 45mm is stock, if it is then they wont wont work. i tried using stock ones, the bolt would just start to screw in and then would kust try to pull the threads out.
1/2 NPT is 1/2"
National
Pipe
Thread, just go into the hardware store and ask for a 1/2" pipe plug, they come with either a hex hole or some with a square end to tread it in.
instead of the 2.3 gaskets, pick up a roll of gasket paper..... lay the flange down, trace out both sides...... cut it out.... you will even have enough left over to make a t/b gasket....... think its in the $5 range... Auto Zone, AdvanceAuto, Pep Boys, O'Rielys...... they should all have it
